Looks like the older Tanabe exhaust? I went for a Tanabe Concept and it fits with the bumper alot better!! I will post some pictures when I get home next week.

I done a bit of shopping about before I bought one and it's supposed to be one of the quietest exhausts on the market for the S2000, but it does drone from around 2500rpm to 4000rpm so I decided to take it off. I was told if I buy headers and a sport cat then the drone might go away but am not wanting to spend another 2 grand upgrading the headers and cat for an extra 12bhp!!!

They do have that drone your talking about but I've got some silencer's that fit inside the cans which do a good job of quietening her down when I get bored of it, didn't you get some with yours??

Nope I never got any silencers with mine but mine is a different style, the rear cans end with an angle and they sit further back in the car. I will post a picture when I get home am working abroad just now and am home this week depending on that bloody ash cloud!!!!

Judging by the title of the video and the title screen, I'm gonna go for an AEM CAI. hehe

You most certainly can. Take the airbox lid of your S2K and you'll get close. With CAIs you get a real 'zingggg' as you the Vtec changeover kicks in (yo). smile

Ah well my mistake, I thought it sounded like it had more done to it than an induction kit!! Not sure I would drive about with the airbox lid off but I might buy myself one of them kits. biggrin

Just try the airbox lid off trick. No harm will come if you just blat down the road. Just about all the S2K owners I know have done it or still do it. smile

(I think this is the point that someone will discuss heatsoak wink )

wavey

You called? wink

Heatsoak is an issue - could easily lose 10bhp doing that. Bigger issue for me is accelerated deterioration of the air filter, as it'll get more crap in it.

So the solution is you get a spare airbox lid, cut the front half off it, and replace with wire mesh - a discussion I had with Mikey and a couple of others on S2k suggested this would be a 'usable' alternative...

By the time you've got the dremmel out you might aswell go get one off the shelf.

I think the only Mod i'll do to mine to start with is K&N Fipk, Ive been told it sounds pretty similar to the likes of AEM CAI etc, but its easier to install and doesnt run the risk of hydrolock (Another can of worms). Plus a friend with a EP3 CTR has the K&N and it sounds pretty fruity without being boomy and droney. The last thing I want is a boy racer drone, so i may steer clear of exhausts.

I ended up covering up the resonating hole thingy (no idea what the technical term is) and cutting out the blanking plates inside the airbox to open the whole thing up. I messed around with the L shaped horn and opened that up.

I know it'll be in my head, but I'm sure throttle response it a tad better and the noise is certainly better, although not as growly as 'lid off' or CAI options.

^^^^I know I know. You are all marveling at my technical descriptions. What can I say? Some of us just 'get it'. hehe
