Snetterton Saturday 3 November with Opentrack - Who's going?

Well I had a brilliant morning! No problems with the car and lots of fun on track 
then the rain came at lunch and my track action became slow motion although stil a lot of fun! But my day was cut short due to a conrod wanting to meet everyone outside of the engine!!

That's a real shame, you passed me in the morning and were clearly going well. Are you going to drop a new engine in or try and repair?
A good day all round. Driving standards really good all day, with the exception of one muppet in a Mini and a stock hatch with a novice cross who nearly rear ended me trying to overtake into Oggies under a red flag.

We had a really good day as well, first time at Snetterton - excellent circuit and the Caterham was great, and far better than me! I was really glad I went out in the wet a few times too, really helped me work on smoothness and to get to grips with the car at sensible speeds. I was pleasantly surprised at how grippy R888s are in the damp.
As you say, Carnage, I thought driving standards were very high all day. Marshalls and other circuit staff were really professional and friendly, and I thought Opentrack were great, with things like free hot drinks and nice snacks an excellent touch. I'd definitely use them again.
Were you in the yellow 968 CS? Very nice piece of kit.

Well unfortunately I can't afford to fix it for at least a year think ill go for a newer engine (upgraditis kicking in already!) it will be back better and stronger just not quickly Looked like you we're getting to grips with the Porsche though

Spot on re that Mini. I actually spoke to their team manager who was very apologetic, to her credit. I couldn't find the organiser to have a whinge at them. some nice cars there as well

Wish I hadnt said that as well... a 5am saturday morning safety check by my mechanic buddy on the Westfield revealed...a snapped rear anti roll bar, still ok to run witout though... BUT
its also snapped these two bolts that hold the sequential gearbox togther.... so couldnt use it and its another £2,000+ bill as engine has to come out to get gearbox out... (6 whole laps of the Ring and 15 laps of Spa since last gearbox rebuild because of SAME bloody problem) GRRRRRRRRR!

The Westfield rear arbs are famous for snapping like that - I had one exactly the same. You'd be better with a plays-kool bar (http://www.plays-kool.co.uk/acatalog/Anti_Rollbars.html ) which is a single-piece so no welds to break.a snapped rear anti roll bar, still ok to run witout though...
£2K to take out an engine on a westie....that can't be right....I know mine is a lot simpler but I can have it out in an hour flat!

Take out engine and box, transport box to manufacturer, pay for repair and rebuild of box, pick up gearbox and refit engine and gearbox..... plus VAT!
