Can you get addicted to modifying your track day car?
Discussion
I started doing trackdays about 12 years ago with a fairly standard V8 MGB and since then I have been modifying and improving the car. It now looks like a GT racer and is pretty quick.
For some reason I feel that i have a quest to make the car as good as possible in a DIY way.
Is this normal or do I need help?
Latest mod is a home brewed DRS system for my rear wing which works automatically using valve springs and a linkage. It seems to actually work.

Timed from the video footage after the event.
I realise this is a bit OTT for a trackday car but still good fun.

Not raced so cant comment on wether it is more fun or not. I am having a lot of fun doing trackdays and getting lots of track time. trackdays are safe, less risk of injury or damage to vehicle. I have tried sprinting and found that very boring with hours of waiting around for just a few laps. 20 years ago I might of considered it.
Surely having fun is what its all about.

I started racing an MX5 in the Ma5da race series and can honestly state that it was awesome fun. More than you get in a trackday, but still hasn't put me off trackdays. However I am now more selective in which trackdays to do. Mostly interested in the Nurburgring as I aim to compete in the 24h race one day. (Did 2 x VLN races last year in a Clio Cup - awesome experience)
Racing doesn't have to cost too much and the MX5 series is without a doubt the most fun/£ you will have in racing...
