Destination Nurburgring 10 trackday, 2nd and 3rd July 2014.
Discussion
After my 3rd annual TF visit to the Nordscheife I decided that the DN10 trackday would be worth the extra effort.
I enjoyed my limited time on track, the fantastic weather, and the unique (for me)feature of the full straight and then, after a few runs, and when clear, full chat under the bridge and down to Tiergarten! (not dificult with 150bhp/ton).
Many thanks to Darren and his team, I am sure they had some very stressful moments, but they produced a great experience.
Red flags!
On the first accident, I had seen the Astra (I believe) and it looked like it was running very low on coilovers! In the drivers defense he may have bottomed out badly in the foxhole, throwing him off track, not something he may have noticed on the slow sighting laps.
Fluids on track! I was surprised that the driver of the worst offending Porsche really had no idea that his engine/cooling system was expiring all over the track, my dash would have lit up! These fluids actually led to car damage, and another red?

On the subject of TF days-full chat out of Galgenkopf onto Dottingen, we were well to the left of the track, spotted two cars halfway down the straight with another between us and them so made allowances to give him space. We then realised that both cars in front of our two cars had acually stopped side by side! Apparently comparing their respective btg times!
Duely "fined"one lap and sent home!
Food for thought?

Been doing TF for about 10 years now but this was my first trackday there. Loved it. Thought the organisation was good and liked the transponder usage. I was on Thursday luckily and the few short stoppages we had didnt really effect me as they were good cool down time for the car or a lunch break.
Hope I didnt hold anyone up too much. I was stuck behind that blue 206 and the Gulf RSR Exige for miles at a time on a few laps.
Will have the car better prepared next time as I wont have to be giving it back to my Mum afterwards lol.
Car is standard (with some interior trim removed) and on economy Toyo tyres up front and no name budgets at the back. I think the old girl did OK.
Few pics below and a link to an onboard vid. Got held up in a couple of places and lost 3 sec approaching Adenau where I couldnt get the bugger into 2nd so gave up and went for 3rd instead. Was a 9.02 BTG (I'm giving myself an honorary 8 min lap lol). Not too bad for a car that the whole of PH thinks is slow and cant do corners. Looking on Youtube it might even be a lap record for these cars, by quite some margin (excluding the one that races in the N24) The S2000 I'm chasing is running trackday rubber and driven by a Ring regular.

Did a cheeky lap on my bike one evening, good to see the track from a different point of view, really realise how steep the hills are when it is your legs and not an engine getting you up them.
I lost count of the number of cocks on track
Its the T-sports 2nd time here (last came in 2008) but the bike had to get a sticker too.

Got a video lap of the Z uploaded also - https://vimeo.com/100295516
Was from the Wednesday morning, so not attacking it fully, but despite that it was one of the fastest laps of the 2 days - the fastest being an 8:14 BTG straight after this. Unfortunately the camera glitched on a the mini-karussel so its not upload-worthy! Accidents, traffic and yellow flags meant I never got another lap as clear as this.
Still, I reckon I could be in with a shout of a low-8 or sub-8 lap with perfect conditions and a clear track! Maybe at DN11...

A couple of photos from the event. The usual top quality photos from Jochen@Frozenspeed !
Taking a bit of kerb at Wipperman
Ex Muhle
Good panning shot
Kallenhard
And finally, the obligatory Karussel pic.
We spoke in the car park. I was in my white 997.1 GT3. Of all the people there, none can have had as much fun as you. You were truly flying with your old Golf. Respect.Taking a bit of kerb at Wipperman

This race/track prepared 3 series had a very narrow miss (millimetres!) right in front of me at the mini Karussell. Check out where his tyre marks are in the dirt in relation to the armco when watching in HD ... http://youtu.be/5otgD8NrJWw
The track closures made it appear that there were more cars than other DN events that I have attended but the overflow car park was generally empty which made sense as everyone headed out together as soon as it was a open.
The driving standards were the highest I've experienced on Nurburgring track days.

Bit late to the party on driving "standards", but have a look at my TF laps at the GP Strecke on Wed' 2nd July. Last 15mins before 8pm.
If you're wondering, yes, the N'Ring was open for TF after the M3 and 911 coming together at Tiergarten. The ADAC road workers coned it up and track was open as usual.....until another red flag closed the TF N'Ring, but you could go to the GP Strecke.
I've never been round the GP circuit before, so ticked that box:

The audio gain is quite low, mainly to trim out my almost constant gasps of astonishment.
And yes, that is a DeLorean.

A Vid (with rear view cam) of one of my laps. Great little duel with a 986CS which seemed evenly matched against my 130i. http://youtu.be/nmeMe6zWRiM
