PistonHeads official track day partnership

PH and RMA team up to offer PHers some great track offers

We know how keen PHers are to get on track and the recent Sunday Service at Silverstone proved this with everyone enjoying their stint on the circuit.

We've teamed up with RMA to provide you with some fantastic, well organised track days so there are more chances to get on track with fellow PHers.

RMA has been arranging track days since the late 80s and have over 1,000 events in seventeen countries under its belts so experience is a given. Its goal is to maintain a friendly environment and for everyone to have a great time on track. A good attitude and consideration to other track day enthusiasts is more important than what car you drive. To maintain this, a high standard of track etiquette is required by everyone in attendance, an informative briefing is given before you go out on track so all you need to do is stick to the rules.

The days are suitable for everyone from novices to old hands, ARDS qualified instructors are available for tuition too. You may even see the PH Caterham putting in an appearance...

A typical RMA track day normally flows like this:

8.00am - Registration.
8.40am - Drivers briefing - mandatory for all non-members.
9.00am - Familiarisation laps behind pace car.
9.20am - Circuit opens, with an open pit lane allowing unlimited access to all participants. However we reserve the right to run sessions if the circuit length relative to the number of participants, potential speed differentials or weather conditions dictate that sessions would be in the best interest of safety.
1.00-2.00pm - Lunch.
2.00pm - Circuit reopens with the same format as previously.
5.00pm - Circuit closes, earlier during winter hours due to restricted daylight.

Of course the benefit with open pit lane days is that each driver can have as little or as much time on track as required rather than having an allocated time on track.

RMA have a fluid pricing structure so the earlier you book, the cheaper your day will be. As the days fill up, the prices increase but the amount on the site at the time you book is the price you pay. Up to date pricing can be found by visiting the events page on the RMA website.

The events we are offering are listed below. To ensure you get to park with other PHers in attendance, please enter the following code into the 'Booking Reference'box: - PHRMA

If Carlsberg made trackdays.... they'd be cheaper than this

That said, RMA do run a well organised day

In what way have PH "Teamed up with" RMA? Those dates and prices are just the standard RMA dates and prices open to anyone.

I don't understand.

So from what I can see the only benefit to PHers is that they can park together at the trackday. Therefore, the only thing going on here is that PH is promoting RMA trackdays. Or am I missing something? confused

BTW I've nothing against RMA. I hear they run great days and look forward doing some of them this year but I just don't see anything in the article that constitutes a partnership with PH.

Are the prices listed per car or per person??

Sorry if a silly question!

wow. Those prices...
Can't see many of my hot hatch/tin top friends out on these days.

I suppose if they want the participants to be the well off porsche/ferrari/R500 owners that makes sense. Doesn't necesserily make for better track etiquette imho.

Not done a trackday with RMA although have heard they're good - how does the below pan out? Do people tend to behave? Do they enforce it and kick people out for (e.g.) late braking lunges?

As said above, attracting those from the more monied end of the trackday market doesn't necessarily mean etiquette improves.

At RMA Track Days we like to treat our guests as ‘grown ups’. We don’t ask you to get permission from the driver of the car in front before overtaking nor do we expect you to overtake only on the left, but we do expect you to drive sensibly with proper consideration for all other participants. Those who don’t tend to go home early!

As everyone else has said, quite expensive. Do RMA have fewer cars per session than their competitors?

If so, I'd be prepared to pay the extra. I did a day at Brands last year and I don't think I got a single clear lap in

with the amount RMA charge you'd think their website would work.........

If you like champagne charlies, then give it a go. There's much better available elsewhere though

Can't see much benefit in that - expensive track day, no credible link to PH, no discount.

Come on PH, you're not doing yourselves any favours with this. I was hoping for something like Performance Bikes old "Frenzies" in the late 80's (but without the broken bones)

In what way? Having a larger salary doesn't mean someone is less likely to be an arrogant t**t on the track. In fact it's probably the opposite.

I got quite excited reading that article, assuming there'd be a discount but no.

Even a 5% discount would have justified the "teamed up with".

Just a thought for PH to consider to please the crowds.. How about offering a guarenteed (subject to availability and first come first served basis) pit line garage for PH members that order with the code ?

Yep, you can be a complete tool in a Ferrari just the same as a Saxo hack.
