Blyton - don't ruin it

Hi,
Don't take this as moaning, I love cars and track days as much as the next person.
I live in Blyton, if you've been through or have visited Blyton Park you'll know it's a small village with a 30 limit pretty much everywhere.
Since the opening of the park we have lots more exotica in the village which is nice and it generates trade for the village, however, we do get a lot of people giving it death thru the village now and whilst a supercar on full chat sounds great, what is not so good is the ammunition you're giving some residents who are campaigning for restricted use and even closure of the park.
I've seen a few crashes, mostly minor involving people on the way home from the park,but we've had one car sat at our war memorial with the front end totally gone and parts of the car sprayed all over the road it was pretty obvious that he was going some.
Witnessing a Ferrari 458 spyder getting almost flat in 3rd overtaking a line of cars whilst still in the village, prompted me to write this. I'd hate anything to cause hassle for the Blyton Park team as it's just about the only thing we've got here, that, a good pub and ice cream.
I understand this is the very minority but there a some people who are really against it and I don't want it to gain any momentum.

Richard is very well aware of both his responsibilities and those of his customers to the village and the people who live there and always briefs on departure behaviour. Sadly, as the OP says, some people will not listen and the majority usually end up paying for it.

Richard always mentions driving standards outside the park. I have been to around 15 days there and he is very keen to point out that there is a time and a place. I hope this behaviour does not spoil things for the circuit.
I would imagine the worse behaviour is from the chaps who have quick cars but we're useless on track and feel they have something to prove.
They can rag their cars all day on track, keep it there!

Oh this is a real shame, there is always someone unfortunately. We have been going to Blyton for 15 years now and really enjoy the track and the village cafe. We obey the speed limits, especially through the villages, and quite expect a police camera van in many of the villages, so we are careful! After a day thrashing round the track, I'm not too bothered about being an (old) boy racer on the road, as I feel a bit of a tool trying to do so. You will never win on the road as it is for road use not track!
I too live in a village about 40 miles from Blyton, and we get a fair share of high performance cars and bikes coming through. Some of the drivers are sensible and heed the 40MPH limit, BUT, others want to scream past at sometimes up to around 80MPH and beyond. I did speak to a driver that had blasted past our house once. i was "admiring" his car at the local shop and asked him about his car etc and if he did track days. Oh no, was the reply, I don't want to damage it, yet he drives like an idiot on the road. I know you have heard that many times, well I have, but I wonder are these drivers going through Blyton participating in the track day, or maybe spectating? I have seen some spectators being silly, after seeing what we are doing on track. I have always recommended Blyton to my fellow petrol heads, and they are of a like mind as we would hate to lose Blyton Park, as it seemed an eternity when it was closed due to Richard taking over and redeveloping the facility. I suppose Richard Usher could put up some more signage, but if Jack the lad wants to prove a point, he will until maybe there is a speed camera?

Sounds to me like the annoyed locals need to start a speed campaign.
PERHAPS
ask the police if the locals can do a Neighbourhood Watch type speed trap (where the police DO write to you and warn you if you get caught once, prosecute if twice)
OR
ask them to do a random hand held speed check themselves at the relevant times.
I used to live in a village with a 30 limit on the A road that ran through it, and it was a favourite for the traffic cops as it yielded so much revenue and, more particularly, it slowed people down because you never knew when they would be there.

Our current village (I live just outside it in the 60 zone) has just had flashing signs put up that measure and flash your speed at you. They are actually remarkably effective at slowing speeding cars down before they pass the village primary school

I look after the social media activity for Blyton Park and having picked up on this topic, dropped Richard a line to let him know it was being discussed and that people were re-inforcing the fact that he reminds all drivers to respect the local community when leaving the circuit.
He has also asked me to post the following quote in this thread:
"As the owner of Blyton Park, I do everything I can to make sure that participants limit their wild driving to the circuit only! Even on track, we do not in any way condone reckless, discourteous or dangerous driving. We have signs at the circuit exit imploring drivers to obey speed limits in the locality and have a regular dialogue with Blyton and other local Parish Councils about our responsibilities as a neighbour. Thanks to everyone for their support and please remember 30 really means 30. Richard."

Myself and the good lady will be eating at the Blyton pub on Saturday night, so we shall do our best to reinforce the impression that us racers are a sensible lot and respect the surrounding area and right to a peaceful life of others.
Unfortunately, the pub car park is too small to fit the van into, so we shall be using the racecar as transport! But I will remember to put the silencing bung in beforehand

Having grown up a few miles away from Blyton before leaving the area, I can remember when there was a speed trap in Blyton virtually once a week.
It might also be worth getting Richard to advise visitors on alternative routes out of Blyton - specifically I'm thinking Station Road/Pilham Road and Kirton Road - although they might lead to more exuberant driving...
