235/40/17. I called around many shops around the Toronto (Canada) area, no luck. I ended up ordering a set of the 180TW, so we'll see how these run on the track on my 135i. I'm running all stock except for coilovers and camber plates. I'm running -2.0 camber up front, so hoping I don't have to go any more negative with these tires as it is my daily driver. Tires should come in a few days, I'll be hitting up a local track in a few weeks and will post updates here!
So I was finally able to get out to the local track with these tires. I was very impressed! I ran with a 235 square setup, these run wide, measured around 245 - had tons of grip, especially when heated up! At several hundred dollars less than RS3s and similar competitors, I'll be sticking with these for some time.

These are super noisy though lol As these are on a dedicated set of track wheels, this didn't bother me, but I would never run these as a daily tire, despite the 180TW being marketed as "Street" compound.

I bet the 120 must be a fair bit grippier?

The 120 as they are meant to be soft but more a medium

Finally someone going for the 120. I was thinking about wider wheels for mine but then I thought softer tyres in the same width must surely achieve better results.

ive gone for the same size as i use in other semi slicks as they always seem bigger and i dont want to run larger spaces as its close enough with -3 camber on the front already.

They are come from Spain for some odd reason. In the Netherlands atm so i should get them early next week!

I went with the 120 when I bought mine many moons ago, more than happy with them, didnt get chance to see just how long the lasted as I ended up selling the wheels on but seem to hold up ok, plus they were cheaper to buy so kind of offsets the fact they might not last as long.

Depends on just how much track action you see, my RSR were lasting for a few years just sprinting which will need replacing on age anyway let alone mileage so a soft compound never seemed an issue.

So i did Time Attack at Rockingham on Saturday with the NS2R Soft on the front of my 330/360 R26 Megane. I generally run V70a and im shocked to say im rather surprised on the grip i had!

I had other issues -Slipping clutch, and the track being damp meant little grip with the PScups. But if i would use the ns2r again.

I started them at 25psi cold air temp was 16 and they kept the PSI upto 30 all day long. They havent used much tread nor delaminated either. For the price they are great.

Now used them on two trackdays and a European tour on the NS-2R tyres. Dry and wet.

Leagues better than road tyres. Not used any other makes of td tyre but for £60 a corner they fully meet my current needs.

Perhaps if my driving moves on significantly then I may consider changing to the 'better' ones.

ETA: I used the '180' hard tyre.

Hi All,

Old thread revival here!! Thought some of you maybe able to help with a question I have on these tyres for my car..

The car is a Ford Fiesta mk4 1.4 Zetec which I use on the road and track, currently I use Kuhmo road tyres in the correct 185/55r14 size.

I'm tempted by the Nankangs given the price and positive reviews, but a little worried about a number of people commenting on how heavy they are, to add to this the closest size I could get would be 185/60r14 so would be a slightly bigger/heavier tyre again..

Obviously rotational mass is something I've very keen to keep to a minimum on a low powered car, and I'm concerned these might blunt the performance significantly which would outweigh the increased ability in the corners..

Any thoughts?

Has anyone weighed one of these against their equivalent road tyre?

Most of the track day semi slick type tyres are heavy. This is because they are stiff. You dont want a track day tyre deforming under load.

I replaced some stty road tyres with some Nang semi's on my 106 Gti, and the car felt noticeably slower in a straight line. Although that could have been the larger wheels I had to buy to accommodate the slicks (moved from the 106 Raptors to the 206 GTI pepper pots)

That said, the car will pull your face off through the corners, so I can forgive them for that!

I've just ordered a set for my Z4M in 180 compound, will let you know how I get on but having read plenty of reviews on here and witnessed how my driving buddy gets on with his in wet and dry I think I'll be fine.

Blue Z4M Coupe in front is wearing a nearly new set of NS2R, my Roadster has worn Continental Contisport 3s by comparison.

In the wet there's not much in it

In the dry on Saturday the NS2R's on the Blue car definitely had the edge and seemed to wear well too
