Morning all

Thanks for all the advice, yesterdays trackdays, from my PoV was AWESOME. I really enjoyed the day and learnt a lot as the day went on.

The day started with a "follow-the-leader" session where the track supplied BMW X5 took us for a sighting session. Also, as an MSV novice day, I can't say enough about how good they were. They had 2 or three "advice" classroom sessions between track sessions and that really helped me to understand the circuit and get tips for certain corners.

I booked a tuition session as some advised and it was great. It really changed the day for me. I took better lines and learnt where to use the throttle and where NOT to use the brakes. hehe

I even managed to meet a fellow PH'er in a nice shiny AMG, who despite suggesting here he would "take it steady", showed himself to be a decent driver as he hustled along nicely and I just couldn't catch up!

Ha ha you're too kind! I agree it was a fantastic day. Really well organised! I'd highly recommend it to anybody wanting to lose their track day virginity! I don't think anybody ever felt pressured.

I've got some GoPro footage that I'll get on YouTube sometime soon.

I forgot to ask did your friend with the Elise get any good footage on his camera?

At the risk of hijacking the OP's thread...I've been following it closely as I'm doing my first trackday in the Rush on tuesday week, at Oulton. Any specific advice for that circuit other than the (very helpful) general stuff which has been posted above? I've been as a specatator/pit crew a couple of times but never on the track.

Same comments as Cadwell Park - similar tracks, both tricky in the wet, both lacking decent run off in places. Both awesome tracks. Take care and have fun.

Treat Druids with respect... a lot of respect! It's usually the little hump and surface change on the exit that catch people out. Turn in late, miss the first apex, hit the second then get it straight before applying too much right foot; At least until you get used to it.

Is that an MSV day? The guy who did my tuition session was called mike and he said he was chief instructor at oulton.

He was excellent, maybe see if you can request some tuition from him?

He helped me with lines, throttle balance and the real apex's. He had me taking an entirely different line to everyone at one corner as he said it was better for me and my car. He races mx5's competitively and really knew his stuff.

He then sat in the car with me after the run for 10 minutes or so explaining everything to me.

It's poor quality but here's how the C63 sounded going over the mountain. I thought I'd share it because you can clearly hear Eltax's MX5 behind. Sounded great. What a great day!

Yeah, it's MSV. I'm thinking of getting the instruction as it seems pretty good value. Not sure whether to do it this time, or leave it until nex time though...since the car's still fairly new I don't have a proper feel for it yet, so I might focus on that and worry about my lines later.

Cheers smile Yeah it does look rather challenging, does Druids...seen a few videos of folks going off at Lodge as well. I'll not be trying any powersliding heroics, that's for sure.

I was at Cadwell yesterday. Fair amount of rain and those with any sense waited for it to dry out, but we had enough track time to establish TVR superiority. hehe

Sadly a couple of MX5s weren't so lucky. One will just need attention at the front corner, but the second, admittedly running on slicks, got on the damp stuff at Barn Corner and totalled the front end on the armco - even required the tractor with fork lift to ram the barriers back into place before we could continue.

So, if you do go to Oulton, have a great time, but do be careful if it is at all damp out there. Its a similar track to Cadwell in many ways.
