I'm off to Italy in a week or so and have a trackday booked in at Imola in my V12 Vantage Roadster

My Locktons insurance policy includes UK trackdays and certain European ones but not this one, which is organised by Curbstone so it's run very professionally and has very few cars on track - I believe it will be around 25 or so.

My problem appears to be that trackday insurance premiums seem much more heavily influenced by car value than regular car insurance, I guess because it only actually covers damage to your own car and because of the high excess, I guess the only claims are when it really is severe damage

So in addition to the usual ridiculous excess of many £1,000s, the cheapest I've so far been quoted is £1,700 based on a car value of £135k. That value if anything is a touch conservative so there seems little point in insuring for a lesser value

You don't have to take out insurance of course but I can't afford to write the car off and just pass it off as one of those things !

What do other people do about this and does anyone have any ideas/links/recommendations for cheaper trackday insurance ?

Try Mannings uk.

They do a road and track day policy. You will have to move over to them as they don't cover one off events, but European TDs are now £500 per event for car values greater than £100K, Which sounds better than £1700.
