Has anyone found a good strong iPhone car mount for taking trackday footage that will be passed by MSV marshalls?

I know the MSV marshalls are very stringent about this sort of thing so while there are lots of mounts around, I don't want to waste my money on something the marshalls will tell me to remove.

I'm looking for either a windscreen mounted iphone mount or one that attaches to a bar/clamp thing that attaches to the seat headrest supports.

Just fitted this, works very well. Used it for the first time on Tuesday at Castle Combe. I have the sticky pad version, could do with a bit better glue, that's all. This is a lap of footage taken with it on my iPhone 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BO6Cz8mWL8

Hope that helps.

Op - afaik MSV don't allow any type of suction mount...

Great bit if footage, sounds like a serious bit of evosmile 1.2 sustained on one corner, excellent! If you could get that much in all the corners you'd go even quickersmile

What g'box are you running?

Yes I suspect MSV wouldn't allow a suction mounted camera/phone mount.

I wonder if it would help if the mount had a secondary tether?
Such as a tie-wrap through a dash vent or something?

Alternatively I was thinking of one of those headrest support based bar mounts.
Perhaps a bicycle type mount could be used on that?

I use this on my bike- http://www.quadlockcase.com/

Their stock car mount is a suction cup But they do a variety of permanent mounts, stick on, cable tie and tripod mounts, one of which might be permanent enough for track use.

Anything on a window they won't allow. Not worth risking.

I use a Joby gorillapod for my camera and have been for years. It works fine, costs £30 from Amazon and could work with an iPhone.

I do use my iphone with a suction mount and it works fine, cost about £7 online and hasn't broken in over a years use, I use it everyday..

I was looking at the same thing only the other week. In the end I bought a cheap I phone case and glued it to the back of my go pro case. So I can now use all the go pro mounts to secure the I phone. Works ok to and only cost £4.

Really? I have the adhesive pad ball for the RAM system and frankly could probably hang myself off of it from the screen before it came away...?

Yes, not sure why, I used the wipe cleaner before I stuck it to the dash, but it came off just after I took that footage. I am going to get some more glue. Should be just fine.

Try the Spiderpodium by Breffo. I've used this for several months now and it's holding up very well.

I was using a 3M sticky pad adapter onto the windscreen at Brands and they were more than happy to allow that...

Was at oulton park last week with msv. Got told off for using my gopro helmet cam but no mention of my phone in a ram mount on the windshield - although they could of simply missed it. Ram mounts are awesome also btw thumbup
