Just to add, VTEC will not engage whilst the car is stationary. Last time I was at Bedford they limit me rev it to circa 5200 rpm, any higher was like hitting the limiter

Oops, I even used a calculator!!

Interesting regarding Vtec, will give it a try, but is it not 6K revs when Vtec kicks in?

VTEC on my FD2 kicks in circa 5600. It's difficult to balance and hold it just under that for the time required for measurement (it also doesn't feel good!)

Not sure if this is too useful, but I had a noise test at 4500rpm on a bone-stock S2000 at Castle Coombe and got a rather pathetic 80dB...

I did a thread a few moths ago about my first track day in my S. Great fun - hope you have as much fun in yours!

Tell me more about the Milltek... I've been interested for a while in an upgrade - is it *much* noisier than standard? Do you get much drone from it?

The Miltek is drone free, a big selling point for it. I never got to try it, but search s2ki and there are some threads on it, and the guys were saying this was one of the things top of their list when developing it

Great, I should be ok then, 100db I believe is hell of a lot louder than 80!

I'm not sure what it's like compared to the standard, but it does not drone while cruising, just gives a nice sharp growl on hard acceleration, then sounds a race car once into vtec!

I have checked there are no cats fitted, goes from a 4/-2-1 mani to a mid silencer, then rear silencer which splits into 2 with a small silencer on each tail.

I will try and get a video of it.

I was tempted to go for castle comb as is much closer to me, but decided too much to crash into for a first play!

Just go steady to start with, and you'll be fine!

Free instruction at Coombe too! Just got some R888s fitted to my car and can't wait to experience the difference on track - even on the road I'm finding I rarely need to brake any more :-)
