Signed.

Really annoys me this, there was also the case of the couple who moved into Croft area and got that shut for a while and the noise limits put on it.

Like said above, why move next to a race track then complain that there's noise? Like moving near an airport and complaining that there's too many aircraft around.

Very poorly worded and stands absolutely no chance of becoming law. Don't get me wrong I think it is not right that you can move near something and then complain about it. But this is will achieve nothing.

I have to agree, it's very badly worded and what it demands is against logic and relevant case law.

We had it a few months back in GG, and I posted the following thoughts explaining why I signed it anyway:

The problem with Mallory was that the organisers consistently flouted a fairly reasonable agreement with the residents and the council. They claimed it "wasn't commercially viable" to operate to the agreement, as if that gave them some excuse to break it. I am really strongly against stupid NIMBYism like buying properties near huge noise sources then complaining, but it's never acceptable to break mutual agreements like that.

The idea of prohibiting any sort of noise complaint is daft, because we couldn't expect anyone to put up with properly noisy days (think Formula 1 V10 volume) on a regular basis, but I do think there are deep flaws in the way any vocal resident can make a complaint about noise which you could (and should) reasonably expect. I've signed this petition in the hope that it makes it to debate, because while its wording is far too strong, at least it may provoke some change to the system.

I'm thinking in particular of the spectacularly moronic councillor who single-handedly got the Britcar 24hr race at Silverstone axed. He'd only just moved there and seemed unable to comprehend the amount of money it brought his constituency. I've been there, and it's not even that noisy an event. I can't, for example, imagine many local French complaints against Le Mans gaining much traction..

This has received an early response, since it got over 10,000 signatures. If it reaches 100,000 it will still be considered for debate, but I've got to say the response is a damn sight more sensible than the wording of the petition.

TL;DR: assigning different rights to new residents than existing ones is unworkable, the right to live without nuisance is fundamental, the government has no plans to change the law in this area, the importance and popularity of motorsport is fully recognised and venues are already defended if they have taken all reasonable and practical measures to reduce noise.

I can't believe these mouth-breathers are allowed to reproduce!

For example, I've just bought a house near to a small airfield. Small planes fly from it, this has been the case since the 1940s. Hence, me not being a complete douche means I won't start complaining about the occasional aeroplane taking off.

Or maybe I *am* a douche, but just too lazy..!

Article in Autosport today: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117463

I'm concerned that this is going to reach 100,000 signatures in its current totally unreasonable state and get much more publicity. If it did, it seems very likely to paint motorsport fans in a selfish light.

if they can get the circuit closed they think their house prices will rise. thats the real reason for most of these complaints
Surely the worry would be the land would be built on if the track shut?
Not too much as some of Brands woodlandr has an SSSI applied, due to a rare orchid.
