Ok i fancy getting seriously into my track days this year, hopefully starting next week, but don't know which one to book.

Bedford - Just down the road, £89, 101db
Cadwell - £99, £45 for hotel, 105db

Car is a decatted Chimaera 4.0 but i do have some crappy (homemade - not by me) trackday silencers. Little bit worried about the noise limit at Bedford still though.

What do you guys think?

Why stop at two - make a long weekend of it...
Bedford or Brands Indy Friday
Snetterton Saturday
Cadwell Sunday

Brands, Snett and Cadwell all 105dB!

Somewhat unfashionably, I am a big fan of Bedford. I've done Cadwell and I can see the appeal, but the circuit seemed very short compared to Bedford GT, and the barriers also seemed very close which meant I didn't push as hard due to lack of runoff. I will go back to Cadwell, but I don't understand why people view Bedford as a "Poor relation" to proper tracks.

I guess if you want a test of bravery, Cadwell would be perfect, but I think I'm just after an automotive playground where I can drive hard, learn from my mistakes, and be 99% confident that even if I make an error the car will be coming home in one piece.

Noise will be a concern for you at Bedford, but this is not insurmoutable, my old Fury had a side exit exhaust and never gave a problem once I put a Supertrap-thingy on it.

I do see what you mean, Bedford is a good safe track for the inexperienced, and for power cars, and the full circuit is about 4 miles long, so you never seem to be in a queue of cars on track for long. This Friday is on the shorter SEN circuit I believe. I do like Bedford, I just prefer Cadwell.

Cadwell is a joy for a car that handles well. It is up and down hill and twisty (Bedford is flat), and once you get used to Cadwell and are able to go faster, it is really rewarding. It did take me about three visits to get really into tune with Cadwell, but now it's my favourite track. I would guess that I will enjoy Oulton too, for the same reasons.

Horses for courses.

I did have trouble with noise at Bedford - it is 4dB lower than Cadwell, and on a cold damp morning I have struggled to get below the limit, even with cans.

I'm going to pop down to Cadwell in my VX220 this weekend to watch and take some pics (the VX isn't quite ready to track yet) so if you do go, I'll make sure to say hello

Currently in its normal condition of being broken after lunching 2nd gear synchro doing too many hard landings with my foot still in over the little jump by the cafe at cadwell . I do like bedford gt as it allows full warp down the long straight with a slip road if the brakes don't work as I was clocked at 150 by a gt3rs chasing me last August

I had a ride with Petrol Ted in his GT3 last time at Bedford. Clocked him at 147 before the chicane (from the passenger seat). So next time out in the TVR I thought I would see how near to that speed I could get. Ran out of road and nerve at 135, and took to the grass straight on rather than risk an embarrassing spin next to just about the only piece of armco close to the circuit.
Told you that Kitten was fast!
