Bedford or Cadwell next Week?
Discussion
Good luck at Brands ......I went there on 2nd December and managed 5 laps, mostly below 50 mph. It drizzled all day, and the track had been scrubbed because some abbreviated Richard had spilt oil all over the track the previous week. There was absolutely no grip for us on track tyres and I called it a day after sliding down Graham Hill (oooh Matron!!) at 25mph with everything locked up, even my daughter.
I am going to watch the weather forecasts (local versions on the Beeb website) and try to spot a track day the next day that isn't fully booked. It's as far as i can tell the only benefit of being self-employed. Nobody notices if I bunk off.

Opentrack have just tweeted that they have spaces at Bedford tomorrow?Unfortunately I am committed to being at a client tomorrow.
Weather forecast still pretty poor tomorrow I think.

Thats good from Javelin passing the email on the day before to save hassle. If the weather in Bedford was saying bad all week then maybe they should have taken a similar approach. The forecast looked ok for Bedford all week with some chance of snow but 10 mins down the road from Bedford there was no snow and bright sunshine with a reading of 6 degrees on the dash so it's hard to tell when you have to leave at 6am. If someone was in way before 7.30 then surely a call/message wouldn't go a miss? We enter all our details onto the website so it can't be that difficult. I received an email at 9am. I understand it being cancelled as it was that bad but waiting for people to show up is far from ideal. My only thinking is that they were desperatly trying to clear the track as they wanted the event to go ahead but didn't realise until to late that it was a no go. Hey ho winter trackways and onto the next one
I like Javelin, they seam to do things properly, been impressed with them in the past..While i agree there isnt much to hit at Bedford, in those places where you are most likely to have some kind of an off imo - there is a barrier waiting (there's only one or two situations where this isnt the case). The pit exit is pretty lethal there too.
I'll agree its much safer than some other circuits, certainly in the wet where water only pools in a few placez

Tomorrow cancelled too because of the snow/ice! Didn't think the forecast was looking that bad to be honest!
The problem with Cadwell is that it's just high enough up in the hills that you can shave a few degrees off the forecast which means they've been looking at 1-3 degrees all week which isn't enough to shift the snow they already had and what is left is just frozen solid. Annoyingly if you go a few miles either side of it then it's absolutely fine, this is from this morning.whingebag said:
Nice pic. Cadwell in reverse in the snow. Looks fun.
Frank Mountain probably doesn't think so:http://youtu.be/FCm31-SqIjk?t=5m43s
The "crash" at 6:30-ish.
