Anyone else have a shakedown event booked before the ring, or is that your next trip ?
If all goes to plan, Snetterton a week before in July. The Audi will be serviced with all fluids (plus brake, diff, gearbox, steering fluids), new front discs and pads and rear pads, a little bit before then, so she should be fine for the 'Ring
I'm really looking forward to getting back there. I've also learned a couple of friends will be over there on those days, too!
I can't think of a better way to spend my 30th

Had a fracture of my exhaust manifold at Anglesey last week. I have Croft in July, then the next time out is DN in July !..
I`d rather the fracture happen at Anglesey than on Day#1 of a 2-day ring trackday. I could have welded it out there, but now I`ve time to fix it properly (I hope )

I was lapping you every 3 laps rather than every 2 !!

Shakedown is TVR NL CC at Zolder in three weeks time. To be fair the biggest hurdle is making sure the car is quiet enough, ironic considering the Ring's noise regs. Here's a couple of very short videos from my first trip, including my first ever timed drag race.

Ah, OK.I kept trying to have a play with the ATG one, I slowed down until he caught up, tagged onto him for a couple of laps then he dived into the pits both times. Shame, they were shaping up to be good laps.
Just watched the video. Car to car on a trackday
Soooooooooooo with 3.5 weeks until we can all drive the 'ring, I was told that there are now speed limits. After some reading, it seems these are being enforced with rader guns and one of the trackday sessions was closed down for around 25 minutes because someone went a bit too quick down the Döttinger höhe.
Admittedly this only effects very quick cars but what the fk are the new owners up to? If they wanted a knee jerk reaction to the crash last month then why haven't they put a speed restriction at Pflanzgarten?
Still looking forward to it though.

Don`t go giving them ideas My car is currently in pieces having a bit of a `tidy up`. Should be all together for Croft on the 6th July, then I`ve got a couple of weeks to sort any issues before DN
I`m REALLY looking forward to it, but doesn`t it come round quickly !
Those speed limits are interesting, whilst I didn`t exceed any last year, I was withing a few km/h and with the work done to the Golf in the last 12 months, I`ll probably have to lift off rather than exceed them ! That`s a rather nice position to be in if I`m quite honest

Anyone going to be faster than 200kph at Flugplatz?
Limits are for races.
I was hitting 193km/h last year and 195 on the approach to FP on occasion. That was on an unoptimised ECU map and R tyres. I`ve had the mapping sorted now and planned to run slicks, so it`s certainly conceivable I`d be hitting 200 approaching FP this year with a faster exit out of Hocheichen and more power.Limits are for races.
If I`m getting close, 911`s or similar must certainly be exceeding it ?
At the end of the day, it`s not really going to affect me if I have to lift for a second, but it`s a sign of things to come IMO. Rather being state owned, it`s now privately held and I`m sure the insurance / liability side will start to have more of an impact in the future.

Are there any track days at Spa around these dates? Have had a look at the usual sites but haven't found anything? Not even sure if theres any places left on this DN event but if so I may well be a late joiner
Email Darren (ringweekends on here) and ask. The website does not say that it is sold out. www.destination-nurburgring.com

I have read elsewhere that the limits apply for trackdays too. There is information on the Destination Nürburgring site about the limits too. Limits are for races.
And yes, over 200kph before the Flugplatz is very doable, I was hitting about 260kph before Schwedenkreuz and I was topping 285kph on the Dottinger. Maybe they have some leaway on speeding...............
I only know the above because passengers were looking at the speedo. There is not a bloody chance in hell that I would risk a glance doing those speeds so how they think people will be able to track of their speed without compromising their safety is utterly stupid.
Perhaps Darren will enlighten us, havn't heard of limits being imposed on td's but have not done one here yet.Plenty of tf though-been too sodding busy helping get a new company up and running (mind you, the cars we have been using have been 'rewarding 'enough)
Yes a GT3RS will quite easily exceed 200 going up Flugplatz, I would have thought.
