Nurburgring Track Days.
Discussion
I need some help. I am planning a surprise for my boyfriend to take him to the nurburgring for four laps of the track. I am planning on the 19th May when the track is open... But, if i ay for the four laps on the internet, are these valid for any day that we go as it does not give me an option to select a day? Im so clueless with this...
You can buy laps at the track. Be aware that the Nurburgring is a toll road, and therefore insurance is advisable. Should you damage the track in any way, they'll seek to recover costs. And if you happen to write off someone's car? Well... better get saving.
Good idea though, its perfectly doable. He'll love it. Go with him and make a nice weekend of it. Set aside roughly £500.

Thankyou so much for the quick reply, although I am wanting to get organised and pay for the laps now so as i can save up for spending money. Good idea though, its perfectly doable. He'll love it. Go with him and make a nice weekend of it. Set aside roughly £500.
Yeah ive read that it is very expensive if anything is damaged or our car is damaged in anyway, fingers crossed that doesnt happen! Ha.
Don't worry about buying the laps, that is the easy part.
The logistics take a little more planning:
Find somewhere nice/cheap/practical to stay (Hotel an der Nordschleife?)
Organise the channel crossings.
Fix the weather so it's dry and sunny (safer and makes for the best photos).
Read up on the practicalities on the Ben Lovejoy website.
As mentioned before, there are issues with TF (tourist laps) and they are not to be ignored, but you do have to be very unlucky to suffer a life changing event.

For a first trip, I would strongly recommend using one of the rental firms - an all inclusive Rent4Ring Swift is frankly ideal. Why play Russian Roulette with your car and your insurer's exclusion clauses when you can get a great fun track prepared toy for what amounts to very sane money (especially at the current exchange rate)?

I'd tend to agree. Although I have never driven the Nurburgring, I have visited it and seen some pretty nasty offs! Most people are decent drivers but get caught out. Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
