Just type 'track day car' into ebay. You'd get something like a Saxon vts, 106 gti, 205 Mi16 or something ready to go for 2k.

Im wanting to sell a trackday car but the thought of using ebay fills me with dread. Anywhere else where people would expect to look to find a quality car?

There's a complete section within motorsport for track day cars. First place I would look.

I wouldn't obsess about power to weight ratio, you'll never have the fastest car there and everything feels like it needs more power when you're flooring it along the main straight for the 50th time that day.

If the roll cage is the biggest issue with an MX5 then fair enough but if the speed difference to a Clio is swaying you then I really wouldn't worry about it. Both cars are in the minor leagues power wise anyway and I personally haven't found much difference between them on trackdays.

I like Clios but an MX5 is probably more fun, cheaper to track and more reliable.

I would buy a non track ready car, Clio 172 is a good choice as you don't need to do any special mods, just drive it as it is.
A couple of important things to mention though before you take it on track.
1. Make sure the cam belt is a recent change and done by someone who knows what they are doing.
2. Go over the brake system, change the fluid to a good dot 4 fluid and renew all brake pads to at least Renault OE or better.

Drive it for one track season as it is then think about what improvements you can make for the future. As mentioned before, Cliosport is the forum you need for help and advice.

Stay safe and don't waste money on boy racer upgrades, it really isn't necessary, your money is better spent on trackdays and fuel.
Spot on advice I'd say
