I am at Combe on Friday with MSE, it will be interesting to see what the new surface is like, I believe 2/3rds of the circuit has been resurfaced. It will be wet this Friday, I wonder if there will be more grip in the wet, could it be worse than the old tarmac smile

How long ago was it done? If it hasn't been used much since the resurfacing it will in all probability be very slippy in the wet.

I did a TD at Brands in December in the drizzle, a week after the track had been completely machine scrubbed to get rid of dropped oil. It was like driving on ice. I had a lovely sideways slide down the hill from Druids..........at 25 mph.

I imagine Combe might be similar if there is no rubber down.
Wear the brown trousers hehe

I think its been laid in the last few weeks, wasn't done on the 7th Feb anyway. Its pretty new.

Found this clip on YouTube from a few days ago. Shows the work looks nice.

It'll be lovely in the dry. The rain will draw the oil out of the bitumen though, and this effect takes a good few 'washes' to go away. I had a spin in a race at Brands Indy a couple of weeks after it was resurfaced, we'd tested and qualified in the dry...

Thanks for the heads-up, Rob. We are there on the Saturday. I'm pretty sure the MSE day will be the first one to try it out. We were there on 21st and it hadn't been done then. Good luck!

Hi David, I was too late to get in on the BHP, waiting for the car to be fixed. It is likely to be wet so, hopefully we will all be cautious.

This was it (Quarry) last 2 Saturdays ago.. (I was up having a look with the kids) as I plan to go tmw. It was a mess, however they have done a really good job on resurfacing, but I have been told that the bump into quarry may have been ironed out at tad.

I also assume this change/resurfacing will render all the old lap times invalid?

Oh and wellground, you mentioned last time I could come out for a ride with you, that still ok smile

Yep come and grab me. I am testing a new gear position sensor on the box, so as long as it all goes well, you are most welcome.

Money, I think the people that installed the solar array had a contract with CC.. They are the ones responsible for the tidy up..

570 + sequential smile Which could prove interesting on newly laid tarmac in the wet.

Indeed.. the weather is perfect now.. I keep looking out my office window.. :-/
Hopefully they are wrong, I suspect the morning may be wet, then hopefully dry in the afternoon.. It does dry up quick, I think you were there last year in the fog (shut all morning), it was bone dry at the end.

There's also a massive solar farm in the middle of the track now, so be careful of sunny reflections blinding you eek

Yes I was there that day, turned a bit icy and dry at the end, properly slippery.
