Hi, I'm a first time poster on track day section.
I've done a few track days in the past with my own car, but now I have a company vw transporter van, and no car!
So my 50th birthday is coming up fast and I fancy a bash on track again.
I did formula ford type single seaters at Mallory many years ago, that was good fun, what's the current equivalent?
I'm not really interested in the £99 20 minute super car taster experiences.
I've had a msv email today and noticed an atom day at Bedford for £299.
Anybody on here got any experience of this or similar?
Andy

Yes, I hired a Caterham R400 from www.swracecarhire.com which was great. Just be aware though that there is a huge gulf between a £99 'drive a supercar' day and hiring a race car for a trackday. You are looking at the thick end of £1K once you have paid for the trackday and the car hire. well worth the money but not cheap. I've also hired an Atom 3 245 for a full day and lets just say it was a decent bit more than the Caterham but also well worth it smile

I'd be very surprised if the MSV thing is anything more than an experience day at that price. Possibly the how fast thing (which is 1hr of track time).

Bookatrack will let you have a Caterham R300 on pretty much any track, open pitlane.

As above trackday organisers will rent you a car for one of their days, on top of the cost of the trackday.

If you want to spend a bit less, try some of the companies running BMW Compacts in the Compact cup. I have seen them hire and run the car for the day, for quite a lot less than £1k.

Opentrack also rent out two cars.

They have a Tiger and 106 gti pug..

If you haven't tried them you should. A first class run operation....

Palmersport are just on another level to anything else in my pretty vast experience....

The half days for around 400 quid are just incredible value for money. The layout of beford means you can push the cars harder than you ever imagined possible....

The full day is well worth the money. I've done full day 25 times now.... I will be doing another one soon and every time I do one I think why do I bother tracking my own cars! It's cheaper and more fun and thrilling and exciting at Palmersport and I have some pretty exciting cars myself.

Treat yourself. It's incredible day out

+1

I've done a couple of Opentrack days (in my own car), very friendly but professionally run imo. Also voted 'Best Trackday Operator of the Year' too thumbup

+1 for Opentrack

They won TDO of the year last year for a reason!

Tiger + Pug available for the day, decent prices too - includes the cost of the track day...

They do free photos too as well as free donuts... Its worth going along just for the donuts to be honest! biggrin

Oh, and its always open pit lane!

Broken Record time - I was going to mention OpenTrack too.

I was at Cadwell with them last month and the 106 Gti they had hired out looked loads of fun - the 2 guys sharing it were constantly smiling. I think it's great that they have the 106 and the Tiger, gives you the option of choosing something that will fit with your ability and what you want from the day.

I've hired the Tiger from Opentrack. Genuinely can't fault the service or price at all.

Price includes the track day, car hire, fuel, crash hat etc and also some great free of charge instruction and video and photos of the day.

Insurance also included.

The car is available for more time than you will want to drive through the day and your out garage is right at the exit of the pits.

Can't recommend them enough.

I don't need to say any more than that to be honest!

I've done a lot of trackdays with Dave at opentrack and hes spot on. Well worth the money and always the best cars on track with a great mix of machines. Seen both the Tiger and Pug out and they look like they go very well.

http://opentrack.co.uk/

Always my first stop when looking at trackdays. Price includes the car, trackday , tuition, pictures and doughnuts. Cant fault that!

Another +1 for OpenTrack, and for BookaTrack although I'm not sure Jonny does anything other than Caterhams.

Here's another option - Porsche Boxster:

And if you want to get more carried away, Lotus Exige or Porsche 997 GT3!

I've only done the one day with Opentrack thus far at Bedford, it was a great day and the Pug/Tiger look like a bit of a bargain when you add up the cost of fuel, tyres etc etc

OP mentioned an Atom so could also look at http://www.upanatomhire.co.uk/ - never used them, just saw them via social media.
Looks like Opentrack is a popular choice though.

Hi Andy I hope you're well, off topic, but what happened to my old Impreza?
Did you sell it on or did a worse fate become of it?
