oh god, what have i started now shoot

lets put things in contents - the average track day driver wearing his race suit at a novice track day driving a modern car at 7/10ths is mostly wearing that suit to show off and generally looks like a knob.

somehow replies have been twisted to that your crazy not to wear your suit when trying to set new lap records at a test day. a 800 bhp tuned supra flipping at vmax, a tvr leaving the garage way, 997 cup car on a test day - all these examples i would want as much personal safety also, including a race suit

think about the purpose of this thread, a novice driver going on a track day asking if he needs a race suit, all of a sudden you've got him writing his last will and testament. track your f type, drive within your limits and be safe - oh yeah, don't wear a race suit also laugh
Well you did make rather an idiotic comment:

even you do race/have a race suit. dont be that guy who wears it to a track day hehe
So if you've got the correct gear, leave it at home and do without it? laugh

I'm a novice, I do track days, I don't race, I wear a suit just like I wear a helmet and the boots to go with it for safety reasons. Are you going to come along, point and laugh at me for dressing appropriately, but being slower than you?
I am 'all the gear, no idea' and you come across like a stuck up ponce to think that is wrong, beneath you and somehow funny. As a novice I am going to be slower.
As an ameteur I would say I have more chance of getting it wrong and crashing, it is the one reason I do need the correct safety gear. If I was a Pro doing a TD then I would have less need for it, I would feel a bit of a dick if I crashed & burned doing a non-competitive event after a serious race, but even then i'd still wear it.

I wear my race suit on trackdays - it's comfy, warm and safer than my usual clobber. Don't see the problem. There are plenty of things that people laugh at me for, over and above my attire.

Once again someone on PH misinterprets/quotes a comment -just to start an argument?

Again (and last time I can be bothered to repeat this) the q was: should a novice wear a race suit to a track day in a f type
a: imv - no

No, why would I - although you will be judged hehe

No offense, but being that (self confessed) guy with all the gear and no idea on a track day is someone to be cautious of - rest assure ill be telling another novice to try and stay away from you on the track. Sorry if you misinterpret this as being a "stuck up ponce"

...and I agree. But saying that somebody shouldn't wear a race suit if they already have one bacause people might think they look silly is what I take exception to.
