Interested to hear opinions of anybody who is running either tyre. Trying to decide which would be best for track days on my mk7 golf r.

Never tried the Michelins so can't compare but I had AD08Rs on my MX5 turbo. They're a good choice if you want decent consistent grip and long life as they hardly seemed to wear out at all on track which was pretty astonishing. Probably not as grippy as the full on track tyres like R888s but a far better bet than the usual sports tyres aimed at road use which overheat and wear out in a single trackday. Not as good in the wet as a good normal road tyre but not terrible, although in the depths of winter they were a little scary at times before I could get heat into them.

Of course in a much heavier car like yours you might have an entirely different experience. Some tyres work much better on light cars and vice versa...no idea if this is true of the AD08Rs.

I haven't tried the R version of the AD08's yet, but I think the older AD08 was a brilliant all-round track tyre. They seem to last very well and grip much better than normal road tyres. In performance they are much closer to track tyres. They also come with 8mm tread depth. If you want to drive to the day and use one set of tyres for wet and dry, they are a great choice.

Never used the michelins, here's a good thread

I've been running the Cup 2 for over a year now and have nothing but praise for them. Unlike their predecessors they perform very decently in the wet and the longevity is very significantly better than the older cups.

Just be aware that the PS2's are not available in that many sizes, mainly the larger rims / bigger tyres.
