At M-B World they do under 17s driving with automatic A Classes, which seems fair enough for a child with no driving experience.

However I've seen people offering Ferrari and Lamborghini sessions for 12 year olds. Is this worthwhile, any experiences?

I did a junior supercar experience at the Pro Drive circuit in an Aston Martin DB9 when I was 15 or 16.

Can't remember how long I was out for my drive, but it was good fun. You're never going to be pushing the cars remotely near their limit, but to drive such a car before I even had a licence was a great experience smile.

Depends what you're looking for, an "experience" for them to tell all their friends about, or early driver training?

The Ferrari etc. days can be great for the former, but as mentioned above it'll be nowhere near the car's potential for understandable reasons! For the latter, the manufacturer-sponsored days like the MB one and (if they're still running it) the Mini one at Rockingham are pretty good for learning the ropes in a cool environment. The trade-off is a more ordinary car!

Tried to book the Lamborghini at Longcross, but apparently they are fully booked until September.

So he's doing the A Class (£45/0.5 hr), ML (£50/0.5 hr), then AMG (£30/15 minutes) passenger lap on Sunday instead.

So done this now, I sat in the back for the three driving experiences. First off was the A Class, automatic A180, nice enough car, they drive around some cones basically in a very rutted car park. There were too many others doing it at the same time (so you had to wait sometimes for someone in front of you), and I felt it was relatively poor value for money.

After that the ML at £5 more for what is more than twice the car was a better deal, with a proper off-road course to go round and all the off-road gadgets to play with, and no traffic (there were two or three other cars out but they didn't get in the way). The course was very dry apart from the permanent ford section.

Then the AMG passenger lap was only about 10 minutes, but son said it was the best part. But it looked like you could just turn up and pay £15 on the weekend, rather than £30 in advance. Not sure if there would be a wait.

Bit of a resurrection here, but I am looking for a junior track day along the lines of half a day driving a Nissan 370Z (for example) instead of "drive three super cars for five minutes" type thing.

Any suggestions please? Midlands location needed really.

London Rally School will allow those without a licence ( but can operate the controls of a car) to do a half, or full day, or even 121 rally experience in Escorts, Subs or a Pug. A full day would get around 6 x 15 mins sessions approx.

Based near Bicester.
