Booked this last night, anyone else going?

Have never driven Castle Combe before and this will be my first track day in the car not on an airfield. Looking forward to it.

Will be in my stylus...

Cheers,

Mark

Combe is a fabulous circuit and if you build up slowly is unlikely to cause you any problems. It rewards smooth driving and is very fast, so it's well worth getting some instruction early to make the most of your day. Enjoy.

I'll be there in a Megane R26, and I think there is a small collection of TVRs going, according to the Chimaera forum.

Combe is a cracking circuit but as has been said needs a bit of care in places. The MSE guys are really helpful and know it back to front so I'd suggest tapping them for as much advice as you can!

Tempted... It would be my first non-airfield trackday too.

Is there a drive by noise limit? I know I'll pass MSE's static test, but would be a bit worried about drive by as I've got a BEC which makes a fair amount of induction noise,

What size diameter is your exhaust tailpipe on the BEC?

I'd guess 2" without checking. It's more induction noise that would be an issue as it's not running an airbox. It's repeatedly passed the static anywhere between 95 and 99dB with MSE, it's more a drive you limit I'd be worried about.

I've obviously been imagining it then. I thought I'd seen it on Combe's own website but can't see it there either. Must be going mad; will have to get it booked now!

I only asked re the exhaust because I have a spare pair of clamp on track day silencers that fit 2.5 inch tail pipes. They knock 4-5 dB off. I will bring them anyway, so just come and find me if you have a problem and think they might fit . Purple/blue TVR.

If you still have a problem I'm sure Merlin motorsport could sort it out

I'm booked on now, can't wait. Thanks for the offer QBee, I'll pop over regardless; I'll be in a light blue 7.

Had a great day yesterday and really nice to meet everyone.

Bit of a self-indulgent video but what the hell...

I enjoyed your video Mark, thanks for posting.
Thought that you might like a photo I took on the day – no I wasn’t taking part only snapping away.

All the TVR crew had a great day, no problems, no breakdowns (we never do have problems, which is why we groaned when El ttto kept on about it in the briefing!). Great standard of driving all day, almost everyone remembered where their mirrors were.

See the thread on the TVR pages for more video and photos:

Hi Mark
Castle Combe....hehehsmile

It is on the exit from Quarry Corner.

It was good to see how well your car was going. What engine is in it please?
