Some organisers like MSV have 'road car only' days stating you can't trailer your car and must be road legal with mot etc - so avoid those.
I've never been asked for proof of mot at any track day I've been to.
I've never had to produce my MOT either.

Do MSV really say you can't trailer your car? Mine's fully road legal (Has to be for the sprint classes I run in) but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world on a motorway, I have a suitable tow car and free access to a trailer so that's how it gets taken to trackways. It also means should I have some sort of issue with the car I can get it home easily and worry about getting it fixed later.

I trailer my car to a track day its not road legal so its the only way but its a good way to do just incase something happens on the day. Seen a few cars written of by either driver era or by others which have made getting back a problem.

Think that only applies at MSVs "Road Car Only" days. Never seen it applied by any other TD organiser or at any other MSV event.

You should be able to find track days that allow non road cars. There seem to be race cars at many track days I do.
Frequently Radicals and so on. There was a racing Ferrari last time I was at Snetterton. But best of all was a GT4 Aston Martin race car. Doubt that had an MOT. Strewth it was fast!
For MSV and Javelin they just need to be road worthy as far as I am aware. I tend not to book road car only days as there is too much slow stuff. So good for beginners or those with slower cars. But the cars have to be driven there.
