I am going out there for the first time this Friday 11th til Monday 14th. Anyone else going to be there same time?

-Been watching lots of track videos and a bit of gaming to familiarise myself as much as I can in terms of what bend is coming next.

-Car has been serviced within an inch of its life and its in tip top condition.

-Got my hi-vis, triangle etc to keep the French happy, in case I get pulled.

-Dug my helmet out! wont make any difference though if it goes on its roof being an mx5

-All I need to sort still is European roadside assistance and get my Euros.

Am I missing anything else?

You cannot get insurance for a UK registered car on TF (public) days. Your UK insurance must pay out the minimum required by the EU, but they will pursue you for their costs.

Track day cover is available for closed sessions, but does not cover third parties, including damage to the track and barriers.

Hi there.

I will be going over with a few friends but we are flying over.Feel free to come over and have a chat and maybe a couple of sighting laps if you have time as it can be a mad sometimes.Just take your time and keep to the right and keep your eyes on your rear view mirrors as cars will come up very quickly.

Apologies for jumping on the thread, but myself and hopefully a couple of mates are planning a trip out there at the end of September. We're currently looking at the weekend of 26th/27th and have checked that both days are open for Touristfahrten. Is it likely to still be very busy over the weekend so late in the year?

Anyone else planning on heading there that weekend? We're looking to arrive about lunchtime on Friday and depart about lunchtime on the Monday. Haven't booked hotels yet so open to any good suggestions.
This is the DTM weekend and it will be very busy so i would start ringing around ASAP for a hotel or B&B.Me and a couple of friends are going over for the next three weekends with Spa in the middle.

Thanks Andy, I would be happy to - If you wear a pink flower in your hair, I will be able to know its you laugh

Likewise if you see me in my black mk1 mx5 with a silver e46 330ci, makes yourself known!

I am hoping to get out first thing on Saturday morning for a few quiet-ish laps to settle me in.

Alistair.

The latest advice from agtlaw is that it is very unlikely that a uk insurer will pursue you for third party costs. Im sure he could elaborate.

EU/Nurburgring Breakdown is best done through ADAC, you can do it over the phone and upgrade it to uk cover, all for around £60.
It also covers you getting towed off the ring itself (but not the damage/closure time) Saves you 170 euros odd.

Have a great trip. Just got back from bank holiday weekend smile

Hi TOYNEG I will be getting the 8 or 8.30am chunnel on Friday so hoping to get to the ring be late afternoon. I will keep an eye for you! As said I'm in a black mk1 mx5 with a goodwood sticker on the winscreen.

Safe journey and possibly see you there.

I've been recommended to 'take the e40.... past Brussels airport. Then past spa. Then past prum. Then to nurburgring' apparently is a nice drive and the best route to take from Calais? Anyone able to back that up? tbh as long as I get there in good time and experience some autobahn, I will be happy.

I went via this route:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/DFDS+Seaways+-+D...

The 257 makes for a fun drive after the long boring drives on the motorways. Scenery is spectacular!
Good places to eat would be Pistenklause for one, there's a decent Italian place that does proper pizzas at decent prices. It's just by the bridge where the Nordshcliefe goes over the 257 as you go through Adenau if heading north into the centre of town, there's also a place called 'Pitstop' there by that bridge which isn't bad either.

The Pistenklause is well worth a visit but if you are going home on the Monday then the Sunday night is the best option as you can have a good look around as it is far less crowded.Fridays and Saturdays can be packed and the service and food quality can be terrible as they seem to make it up as they go along. We have had so many meals where some of the group have never eaten a meal as the steaks were sent back two or three times as they were not cooked correctly.

OK kl, just checked and I'm getting the 8.20 tunnel. May just try one route on way down and the other on way back if they are not too different in mileage.

I'm staying at Hotel Zur Burg. My mate I'm going with has mentioned that pizza place so think we will go there as well as the Pistenklause either Sat or Sun night.

Bit gutted to see the GP is said to be closed this weekend now - was looking forward to that.

Q- Will it be too late to join the ADAC today if I'm going on Frdiay? Too late to get a membership card through now but still worth it? should I get the regular or the plus* ?

I have eaten there a dozen times over the years & have only ever had the steak argentina, so you cook it as you go mouthful, by delicious mouthful, & can only recommend it.

Is the usual preferred route, can duck past lille if Brussels is backed up, is 10miles longer tho,(Antwerp route is same distance as via Brussels) Spa/Prum way - nice last bit of cracking road, not the way if you want derestricted autobahn however as us none that route- is south of the exit off if you want to carry on south & turn back round.

Even though there isnt much of an Autobahn you can still travel comfortably at 100+ pretty much the whole way.
