The nearly new and rather lovely Lotus Exige S suffered a broken front body clamshell, broken front suspension and the loss of most of his track day. He was most likely pretty shaken up too. Last thing I heard he was trying to arrange for the recovery of his battered car.
The driver's mother was at the track and was livid, saying that the Rover driver had already been black flagged once and she was at a loss to understand why he was still on track, in a position to kill or seriously injure her son.
I have not checked the accuracy of her statement (made to me at lunchtime), but on the face of it, it leave a few questions unanswered. I am certainly grateful that the Rover driver didn't use my TVR for target practice.

I think TDO's need to start insisting that if black flagged an instructor goes out with driver and assesses their driving to decide if they are safe enough to continue.
Problem is after the debacle with Chaucer insurance suing then never chasing the 21k a while back people don't want to rock boat. Wonder what would happen if someone tried to hold TDO responsible for accident on grounds that by issuing black flag for driving standards they had shown they didn't believe the driver met the required standards for safe driving on track and 'talking to' is adequate.

Had to be a ZS driver. I've always said that the worst part of owning a modern MG is the fellow owners...
Confirmed.

Do you plaster Facebook every time your mileage ends with a zero?
Do you park your ZS next to any rover / mg in tescos car park and post pictures entitled "awww the MG has a new friend"?
If so, yes, you are one of them.
If not, you are a normal petrol head who can appreciate a good car but not be an asshole about it.

No idea where that rumour came from but that's not true at all.You can clearly see him under steering and overheating his front tyres for the three corners u til the crash.
My guess is that he was trying to match the Lotus, who was actually just keeping well within his brake and tyres limits.
He probably therefore jogged right rather than rear end him.
He should have slowed and let everything cool down like the competent track dayers do.

That is obscene driving, deserves to be banned from any kind of driving whatsoever. The Lotus (looked like a Europa) will be written off with that amount of damage probably, would have smashed at least one clam to pieces.
Fixed that for you!I wouldn't trust someone who drove like that with a PlayStation!

This is basically Kebab man minus all the computers and lazerz to save him. No "Mechanical failure" to see here, just dire driving. Similar to a video i saw recently of a Chav in a Toyota Starlet Glanza V crashing due to a tyre "blowout"......
My thoughts exactly! What a ncut in the rover, no way was he going to make that corner and that poor lotus driver
With that video evidence I might be inclined to have a go at trying to recover some costs through the courts. That has to be negligence surely?
