Hey, just letting everyone know that the Airfield Track weekend at RAF Marham is back!!!

For only £70 a day or £120 for both days, you have unlimited access to the track 0800 - 1700.

All proceeds go to charity (RAFBF, children's charities and local needy causes) so not only are you having a superb day out, you are also doing some good in the community!

It gets even better.... we swap the direction at lunch time so you get two tracks for the price of one!!!

For details of what to expect and how to pay, go to www.MarhamTrackDay.co.uk or http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Time is short at it's only 2 weeks away but we have spaces on both days so please get your names down!!! Where else can you get a track day for £70?!

Many thanks, see you there!
Track Day Team.

Would love too but dealer for tin top is 400 mile round trip on the Saturday so would have to get home with the new car and then turn around and do another 150 miles out to Marham.

Next time then!! ;-)

Still places available on both days! £70 gets you a lot of track time.... see the other thread in the East Anglian region.

I did this at the last one. I think people should know the downsides of the day....

If you want to go fast in a straight line, great. But it had few interesting corners - they were coned so tightly it was not much fun. But the real killer was the fine sand... it completely shot-blasted my wings, bonnet and stainless exhaust, requiring a re-spray.

I wouldn't do it again because of the paint damage in anything other than a shed, but that is just my opinion.

That's not good to hear. This was also a serious problem on the last one I did there back in 2013, but hadn't been on the first one I did in 2012, so was hoping 2013 was a freak one-off conditions.....sounds like it wasn't.

That doesn't sound good. I was hoping to do the next one as well!

Can you elaborate more on the damage? Any pics? Would road wrap film have prevented it?

Fine sand. Just stripped away the paint on my bonnet and rear wings. Splattered against my visor and ruined the visor.

You could avoid bonnet damage by staying clear of vehicles in front. The rear wings on my MK could have been protected with some kind of film. But that said, the shot blasting was enough to pit my side stainless exhaust. Tried to polish by hand, but too badly pitted. I will be taking it off and getting it polished out.

I don't mean to put people off - it is a good day to go flat out. It's so cheap and the profits go to a good cause. But be prepared - protect your paintwork.

Not just paintwork, my windscreen got mullered as well by it, as did my next door neighbours screen on his RS3. His paintwork looked worse than mine as it's a dark colour.

I don't have a windscreen - one less thing to be damaged! My windscreen was my full face helmet, and the visor was ruined. Expensive day - never again.

Anybody thinking about taking a car they care about onto the track - I'd think again.

That's really good advice, thanks.

I'm not 100% put off but will have a serious think about protecting the paintwork/avoiding cars in front etc.

It's a shame as i've looked on youtube and it seems like the ideal place to stretch the Vette's legs a bit. There are plenty of other trackdays to enjoy challenging corners.

Cheers
