What is your track day car, and why?
Discussion
My recently acquired Clio 182 Turbo track car:
Why? I had thought about running a track car for a while and decided small, light and nimble was the way forwards. Started looking into 172 / 182's and this one came up local to me. One test drive and I was hooked - low boost turbo conversion and it pulls well.
Only got one full trackday and a 1/4 mile run in before it's now tucked away for winter but already it's clear that traction is the enemy in current form - track tyres (currently on Pilot Supersports) and limited slip diff should help deploy power.

Really rather loud......
Do you think you might need to have your noise level checked before you venture on track. Most circuits willbe happy to test if for you if you just ask and they have a track day that day.
The problem is, if you know it's borderline you've no guarantee you'll pass at one trackday just because you passed at another. My car seems to get wildly different results every time. Different equipment and different people testing I guess.Do you think you might need to have your noise level checked before you venture on track. Mine is an MGB V8
pros.
surprisingly capable.
puts a smile on my face.
Challenging power to weight ratio 430bhp per tonne
Road legal
free road tax & cheap insurance.
Cons.
since having throttle bodies and Canems ECU fitted has been very un reliable.
Cant stop trying to improve it.

140-150mph at CC is mightily impressive, very few cars reach this there...even many a six-figured exotica struggle. I was riding gunshot some months ago at CC, we hit 137.4mph...it was very quick, 0-60 in 2secs. Well done on the DRS, it looks very effective.v8bloke said:

Genuine GT3 fully caged shell
XKRS suspension
F Type steering rack
LS9 supercharged engine. Stroked 6.8 litre. Over geared supercharger by 30%
Blisterin coil overs
Corvette ZO6 6 speed transaxle and LSD

Looks excellent. That sort of car should be raced, in something like the CSCC Specials Saloons and Modsports seriespros.

Looks awesome. I'm sure that i remember them being raced in British GT. A car that was underdeveloped due to the sad and untimely death of Richard Lloyd iirc.Still building it at moment

Pros:
+ Fantastic fun, the handling, open ITB's and exhaust singing away 6" from your right leg are a good giggle
+ RWD & LSD
+ A bit different
+ Light so easy on consumables
+ Built for competition use so trackdays don't stress it too much & most bits are from big manufacturers parts bins so cheaply sourced
+ Fits easily on a small trailer and can be towed without taking a trailer test
Negatives:
- Rare, so model specific spares are tricky to find
- Expensive (for me) for something to use a few times a year
- Very small inside
Hoping to make it road legal in the future, and would like to take it tarmac stage rallying though need to investigate the work required - I know there was a factory rally car that was quite extensively modified.
