Haven't spotted any VX's on this tread so thought I'd add mine.

It started as a basic 145bhp 2.2 vx220 but last year I added a supercharger. Power is now around 240bhp with weight at 900kg. It's great on track with fun rear wheel drive handling to keep it interesting, quick enough to keep up with some quick stuff and cheap enough to run with decent tyre/brake life. It's also usable on the road in between track days..

The only downside is that I have the modding bug and keep wanting to spend cash (just added ally belled discs, about to upgrade suspension to track spec, I want to put stickier tyres next year etc. etc.)

Plenty of video's on Youtube. Here's some clear laps from Brands hatch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvYDxomLwwg

Cool, it's a good platform to start from and looks like you had fun modding it.
If it had been me it would have started raining right about that point...

nb the first shot has to be a contender for track day photo of the year!

I must have missed them when flicking through - will have another look. Thanks.

It's not just you. There was an almighty thunderstorm about an hour after that shot! Tried putting up a gazebo and it took off. Typical UK weather.

Oh and I agree on it being a good track photo, but I'm biased. It wasn't even a professional photographer but another vx owner that took it so cost me nothing smile

Looks like loads of fun. Is there much involved in supercharging them?

Plenty of guides and info on vx220.org.uk but briefly...

Yes.

Remove front and rear clam
Reprogrammed and relocated ecu
Replace inlet manifold, throttle body, injectors, alternator, air filter, intake pipe etc.
Cut into loom and extend, wire in new injectors, water pump etc
Add charge cooler system - pump, hoses, header tank, radiator etc.

Or you can pay a couple of members on the vx forum £3.5k ish for a drive in, drive out conversation.

Replaced an E36 328i with a Clio 182 Cup... The reason? Tyres. You can't run 195/50 15s on an E36 and decent tyres were LOADS of money so I spent a lorry load of money building a new car. Man Maths!

Another VX220 NA here. Cheap as chips cars and plenty to do to them if you're that way inclined.

Well probably because the LS9 will make 700bhp all day long!

What a car!

Are you getting he intercooler bricks modded as some have disintegrated with high boost. Also worth looking at inlet mods to get the cold air into the supercharger (LPE intake snout is supposed to be very good).
Hi
Using standard LS9 intercoolers. Have modified standard snout with Lingenfelter pulley kit. I removed the throttle body inlet and fabricated a new one with larger Intake similar to LPEs design. Took the oportunity to port the snout while I was at it.

Have had later intercoolers seals fitted by machining extra groves in housing. Hopefully they will hold up.

Looks awesome. I'm sure that i remember them being raced in British GT. A car that was underdeveloped due to the sad and untimely death of Richard Lloyd iirc.

Why the engine swap?
Decided on the the LS engine as its smaller lighter simpler and more powerful.

Also comes with a massive range of cheap clutches gearboxes and transaxles.

There is also an off the shelf sequential option to replace the TR6060 if I ever get the funds to replace it.

Would like to have kept it all Jaguar but off the shelf drivetrain is just not available

It's getting to the point where it will probably be too powerful to enjoy properly

Father and I bought this a few months ago, 1992 Westfield narrow body with a 1.7 ford crossflow making around 130 bhp and a five speed box. It needed a little enhancement for its first outing so on went toyo 888r's around minilite alloys with some wider carbon front arches as somebody aka me ordered the wrong offset!

Only day we have done thus far was Snetterton 300 and what a great day it was, just passed the noise test and kept it to 3 lap sessions but wow what an experience to really push a car and have a bit of fun with other cars on track!

Running repairs have been a new radiator and a need for somebody who really knows crossflow's to set the carbs up!

Next track day, back to Snetterton on the 23rd of Jan then on to more!

Overall well and truly bug bitten!

(hope the pictures upload!)

I had this R32 GTR as a trackday car but found it a bit boring as the handling an brakes were so good,I changed it for an E55 AMG which was fun but the brakes on short circuits were a bit to be desired.I now have gone the historic route with a 68 camaro which i hope will be entertaining an fun to drive.

Good experience with Copart? their Sandy branch is literally over the road from me and I was thinking of doing something similar

I normally prefer small/light cars, but I've got a thing for the 2015 Mustang, especially in that colour. I saw a few in the US a few months back and they look great in the metal - even my wife likes them.

Enjoy your new car!

Great cars for trackdaying in (I've got one) but please get a cage that is taller than you are yikes and some side impact protection, you shouldn't have to look far on here to work out why boxedin.

I bought it at 21 (nearly 4yrs ago) so it had to be affordable on insurance etc at the time and I don't have the space for a 2nd car. Quite frankly I wish I bought a Clio but I plan to run this into the ground then strip it and buy something more committed such as a Caterham since I can justify a 2nd car now.

Currently running just over 190bhp however it's a little poorly due to burning a fair bit of oil frown
