Don't laugh! I was at Bedford on Monday and saw this, after a chat with the owner he threw me the keys and, I kid you not, it was most fun I've ever had on track, or road for that matter. Super lightened, as you can see, it had a VVC engine in it and weighed 600kg. Track tyres and lowered suspension and absolutely brilliant!!! Sounded like a proper race car (well, to me anyway), super loud engine noise, a few rattles but not too many primarily as there wasn't anything left in it to rattle! Honestly, I was giggling like an idiot leaving the pits! Fast? No....oh ok, it was fast! My Megane RS265 would get to 120mph at the end of the straight, this easily reached 110mph and only because it wasn't my car did I not exceed that. Better budget track car than this, no chance!!

Oh yeah, he'd also cut the metal from behind the rear number plate for 'added lightness'! hehe

The GTI version had a 1.8 VVC lump if I remember correctly.

I saw one of those at brands in the same colour, but the owner of that one had gone the other way entirely with multispoke wheels, shiny paintwork and even what appeared to be a carbon fibre splitter.

As you say with their weight and power they will embarrass some serious machinery.

I thought the "hot" metro only had a 1.4 k series? Although the MGF/Elise engine does fit easily.

I had one of the last metros as my first car and it wasn't actually that bad, the unassisted steering gave a lot more feedback than most modern performance cars.

I would personally add abit of weight in with a cage, not a big car if it goes wrong.

Looks mega fun though smile

I used to get a lift to school in a MG Metro Turbo which was a 1.3 turbo. Digital boost guage was supercool in the very early 90's.

I bet this car is lots of fun if it has anything over 100bhp although its more likely nearer 160bhp perhaps?

I love the selective comfort too with the driver's side "door card" kept in place where as the other door has the skin cut out and everything hehe

generally speaking something you can trash is always more fun factor than something you drive smooth to go fast as the latter arguably requires more concentration to maintain consistency. imo ofcourse.

No, just 1.4

Lots of people have transplanted 1.8VVC lumps though. Great fun they are.

Best I've seen was an original Panda given the same treatment, running a Fiat Uno turbo motor (dropped straight in apparently) and on 13" slicks. Looked great fun.
