Maybe not the right forum, but guessing you lot will know the most.

I've got a aeroscreen westie and younger cousins/nieces/nephews etc want to go out in it properly - I'm not keen on taking them without something to protect their face from flying stones/bugs. The age range is 6-10... I have no idea when it comes to sizing/brand so this might be a stupid question.... Does anyone know of any helmets that would fit the majority of that age range with removable padding? They won't be out on trackdays, motorways or even going fast... It'll only be used on the types of drives I'd be happy to go helmetless myself for. Have thought about a kids painball mask but if there's something helmet wise it would probably add to the experience for them.

Thanks!

Since you can start Karting from about that age, helmets must be available in "junior" sizes. Demon Tweeks, Merlin or GP Racewear websites are probably a good place to start your search

Two points,

Most kit cars seat belts are not configured to suit young children, you need to look long and hard at your situation and ensure that the shoulder belts are level or go down over the child's shoulders. If the belts go up over the shoulders the belts will not work as intended (this is assuming 4 or 6 point belts rather than inertia belts).

Karting helmets for kids are still pretty much the same weight as adult helmets. Is additional mass will be a large strain on a child's neck in the event of an impact while being restrained by the 4 point belts.

My son has been karting since 9 what you need to look for is a helmet marked CMR these are the lightweight version.

Koden sell reasonable price one's.

Put the kids on cushions/pillows to bring them up so they can get the belts on correctly and see ok. After that you don't need a full car helmet, you could get a paintball mask or bmx helmet + goggles to do the job...a lot lighter and infinitely more comfortable than a full helmet. I have a "save phace" mask for exactly this reason and it does the job perfectly.
