It's booked out and I want to attend. Is anyone here booked on but not going? I'll buy the place from you.

Much thanks.

Two things:

1. I don't know about MSV, but Javelin won't do that, preferring the original person to get a credit, and they then give the place to the first on the reserve list, so i would recommend checking with them.

2. I have had a friend turn up mid-morning to watch and passenger at Bedford, and be able to get on track for a reduced fee for the afternoon session when several race cars went home. Similar thing happened for another friend, when one of our group had terminal brake shudder mid-morning - we got his booking transferred to the friend with the agreement of both parties, a quick briefing and noise test.

So it could be worth going along anyway, in your track car and with helmet and driving licence to hand, go to the briefing, pay for a passenger wrist band if they will let you (just ask someone in the car park before hand with a similar car, if you need to be attached to a particular car), and take your chance on getting out for part of the day in your own car. It isn't really a surprise how many cars break down early doors.

Good luck.

Yep we were there yesterday and managed to do the same as above point 2....

Invariably someone fails the noise test (a standard GT4 yesterday!?!) and you can bag their place for afternoon

Are you the same Chr1sch from the 306 forum, that was pushing a gti6 along nicely yesterday?? I meant to pop over and say hi - I was once an active member of that community with my Rallye project. I was delighted to see another white 306 going toe to toe with "quicker" cars. Good show.

MSVT will do a name change foc pre event no problem as long you tell them the new name (rather than the new driver). Saves them the process of issuing credits and re selling. You can also add yourself to their reserve list - in case they get someone that wants to sell their space back. No harm in getting on it anyway.

Thank you for the advice chaps, I'm already on the reserve list, but I'll go hang out there Saturday anyway.

I went at lunchtime and asked politely if I could take part if anyone had gone home or failed noise tests. Luckily there were a coupe of no-shows and a couple of noise test failures so I got the afternoon session half price.

This suited me perfectly as I'm normally ready to leave before the day ends anyway.

Made a tit of myself as I managed to spin my M3 out of the hairpin after the pits. Excuses being my first time in this car after all previous track days being in a race Caterham, the M3 feeling like a boat by comparison, still lesson humbly learnt.

Glad it worked out for you. Not something you can count on every time folks. I have known people try it at Snetterton and end up watching all day. The TDOs don't encourage it because many of us would prefer to do just a half day for a reduced fee, and they think they would get left with a lot of unfilled half day slots. Myself, I just think I would do twice as many. A recent 5 hour session at Lotus for £99 worked out very nicely, but there wasn't a full day on offer there.
