Car Track Day Companies

Hey all,

Im a former motorcycle training school owner acutely sensitive to how training standards from company to company violently vary in my old industry and am concerned the same situation may exist with track day companies.

I recall a dvsa seminar where they said anyone teaching driving of any sort they received money for their services should be an approved dvsa instructor and wondered if this ruling has ever been enforced?

failing that, can you recommend a professional school that will combine classroom learning with decent track time to apply your new found skills on 4 wheels?

For track the system is run by The Association of Racing Drivers Schools (ARDS), nothing to do with the DVSA. They assess, grade and licence race instructors on behalf of the MSA.

The majority of the work done by the larger schools is actually more of the experience day type as there's a much wider market for that and every car requires an instructor in it so it creates a lot of work. The most obvious exception to this would be The Motorsports School as they concentrate almost entirely on race training and race licence tests.


Trackday organisers are generally obliged under their insurance to have ARDS instructors on every event and I think I'm right in saying that the Association of Trackday Organisers (ATDO) have similar requirements.
