Hey Guys, Great couple of days for me also at the Ring with DN18. Awesome track really. My very first time there and thankfully ACR performed flawlessly. Unfortunately had some turbo problems with my R26R but ACR was good stand in ; )
Towards the end of the 2nd day and with about 28-30 laps in total under my belt, even managed a 7:50 in the ACR after learning the circuit a bit. However still need more laps!.

Not bad going for a rookie I guess. But car made it easy as well. Had a small sideways moment off carousel but saved it and all was good.
Look forward to the next Ring day when hopefully should do better still. I figure the car has a sub 7 minute in it... Conditions were good although if anything maybe a touch too warm but hey you can't have it all right?
Car looked awesome and sub 8 on first visit is excellent ...wonderful couple of days even doing the early morning sighting laps with the beams of sun coming in through the trees what a place !Towards the end of the 2nd day and with about 28-30 laps in total under my belt, even managed a 7:50 in the ACR after learning the circuit a bit. I saw that - good save - you were quite close to the grass I think.
The problem here is the camber change in the traction zone, one wheel with adverse camber and the other one has the right camber...
Yes. Came off on wrong line. Won't be doing that again.!The problem here is the camber change in the traction zone, one wheel with adverse camber and the other one has the right camber...

Woo !!! Nicely caught off that early hop off the karussel!
Just had a lap a couple of weeks ago but was wet so it was the worst 30E I ever spent! Was telling my lad that we would be going granny slow as there is so little grip and then >wahaahye - opposite lock<!!!
Even found a few pics online and am patiently waiting for the high res days after paying
Bug has bit again though... What would be a suggestion to get some proper instruction there in a RWD car that isn't too powerful and is mostly, err, insured?! Are we talking £1000 a day type stuff?
Cheers

Used these guys a few times for track day rentals and they're v solid great range of cars and good instructors ...scroll to the bottom for pricing. I think for first couple of visits this works well get familiar with track in lower powered car however it aint cheap and including trackday entry fee you're looking at 2k for full day with some instruction and a fairly moderate car ...definitely alot more cost effective to use your own car if possible which is what I did this year (fourth visit to the ring) had two full days and including trackday insurance was less than figure above

Thanks RS - costs mount so nice for a birthday treat next year maybe. Lots of FWD cars offered but always prefer RWD and the M235i seems to be the entry level car here, and this is a very rapid piece of kit!!!
Consider a Swift to learn the track - 8.40 BTG is not exactly slow. Loads of grip and brakes is what you want to teach you the optimum lines there for momentum conservation - you'll save a lot of money that you can then spend on more powerful machinery that you'll be able to exploit armed with your track knowledge. Rent4Ring is a good source.rob0r said:
Not exactly a track car, but I had a good time doing a few laps in June this year! Will definitely be heading back in something more appropriate next year...
Lovely!A mates dad had (IIRC) a 728 of similar vintage and another mates dad, at the same time, had a brand new (slightly later version of the same body) 735i. In their day, utterly magnificent cars. Old enough now and a good enough design to look properly retro-cool.

That picture, right there, is what it's about for me! Having fun and not taking it too seriously, my brother loved his first ever pax laps, my mate giggling when we were airborne at Pflantzgarten, my amazement at just how fast a proper driver throws the car into some corners when all I'm thinking is 'brake, brake, BRAKE!', but still making the corner quite happily! Love it!
