Just digging through my Nurburgring photo library and came across this pic of my Porsche 997 GT3RS, which has certainly whetted the appetite for April's visit with Circuit Days! The Porsche was beautifully suited to the Green Hell - engine, braking, and handling all in perfect balance, although perhaps it was a little too stiff than ideal for the circuit. Although I won't be in the RS this year, I'm looking forward to taking the 12C there for the first time.

I'd thoroughly recommend some sort of tuition if it's your first time, and just take it easy/enjoy it. It's one of the most enjoyable circuits to lap at any pace (even a cool down lap in something very slow is still fun!) so definitely try not to put any pressure on yourself whilst you're there, and I'd hope that given the type of customer a 'Ring trackday attracts (i.e. not the casual wannabe), it should be a fun day.
As one of the instructors booked for the day I'd have to agree 100%. At the moment we have a lot of interested parties taking instruction on the day. Even if you are a driving God there are things that we can offer to help your visit to the Ring better.
I would also like to say that there is normally some sighting laps at the start of the day so please please anyone that has never been before make sure you are all ready to go when the track opens. Even for the hardcore repeat drivers please take the oportunity to drive the sighting laps as we have some new tarmac in places and some changes to run-off areas, so loads to look out for and re`aquant yourselves with.
Anyone else wishing to take some instruction please contact Chris at Circuit days. Even if it's just the minimal 20min slot.

Nice picture. Interesting comment.Was my first trip last year and I was surprised and impressed by how well the stock turbo suspension worked, albeit not going flat out. A recent trip to Chris at CG revealed the shocks all working perfectly and the set-up, originally done by Mike at Sports and Classic, was very good, so all that will have helped, but I'd been ready for it to feel a bit lardy and was happy that it didn't.
I'm not surprised to hear your 996 Turbo handled so well at the Nurburgring; unlike my 997 GT3RS I'm sure its suspension was far better suited to the less than billiard table smooth surface of the Green Hell!
The best sportscar I've ever driven round the Ring was my old Cayman R (see below). I got Paragon Porsche in Sussex to fit a big brake kit, bucket seats, harnesses and Pirelli Trofeo R track tyres and the thing just flew! You could use all of its performance, all of the time. It was just such a beautifully balanced, friendly machine that you could commit to 100%. For keen track day drivers without an unlimited budget, I would recommend one unreservedly.

I think, to use the analogy for Chris at CG, I was driving at "Grand Tourisimo" pace, rather than "Sports Car". 
Cayman R looks a very handy tool for the bumps, cambers and crests.

The most "exciting" car I've had at the Nurburgring was my 997 GT2, which I sadly sold a few years' ago (before the boom). After a couple of days lapping the Green Hell in that thing, I understood why fanboys called it the "widow-maker". Slow in fast out was the best method for me. Get it in a straight line, put your foot down, count to three...and then you're transported to the next corner almost instantly!

My 996 turbo has been magicked up to 502hp by Wayne at Chip Wizards and seems to benefit from similar tactics. My only gripe with the turbos is you can sit the car on the throttles through most of the corners quite so easily as an N/A, but the thrust is intoxicating.
