Like it but I prefer vids that show what the driver is doing with the wheel. If you're using a go pro you could sucker it to the back screen, that's how I got mine smile
Thats just my dash camera, my track day camera is a 360, sadly it was the end of the day and it had ran out of memory without me realising.

Some lovely driving there!

Do you mind if I ask how you got away with a suction-mounted GoPro? I keep getting told that mine needs a tether AS WELL AS the 3M sticky pad on the dash.
Thanks!! smile

Suction mount is for the Gear 360 (a lot heavier than go pro too!)
It is also tethered, i've used it with about 5-6 different TDOs, some have checked it and been happy, some weren't even interested in looking.
Its also a pretty quality mount, not a cheap Chinese ebay job. The sucker has a screw to apply the tension which is much more efficient than the usual clampdown ones. I got it from Maplins donkeys years ago.

I started watching that and thought you'd linked to a 30 vid of your car's interior 😂

That's a long session, good effort smile

It's a good vid to show that liftoff oversteer or provoking oversteer with the steering is great fun even in a fwd car.

Cracking bit of driving there loggyboy! I especially like the nice drift into the chicane. Almost as if you meant to do it!biggrin

I personally think there are some really great FWD chassis out there, the problem is the driving 'gods' believe that rwd is the only way to prove you are a driving legend. I like the predictability of a good FWD chassis.

I like a good FWD chassis personally, I'm not at all worried about the whole rwd/FWD thing. If you're happy hooning in FWD/rwd/4wd who cares. Fun is fun!biggrin

The majority of the BTCC boys do just fine with FWD by the way.biggrin

Only been to Thruxton once (3 yrs ago). Managed 1:38 two-up in my DC2, found it very hard to get the final chicane right Love the circuit!

Your 1:34-1:35 lap is FAST! When are you going to Thruxton next?

Thanks thumbup
Sadly wasn't intended... just pushing a tad too much!
Theres a lot to be said for FWD fun, its a different sort of fun, ive had some experience with RWD on track and road (a lot less than in FWD tho) and it just makes me want to drift, as that seems to be the best way to enjoy the type of driving it gives. However with FWD the buzz comes from getting it right and the occasional unintended slides.

That was my second visit, 1st time I managed a 1:33.5! Even a marshall came up to a few of us at the end of the day and said 'i know we shouldn't, but i like to time people, see how they are getting on, you did a 1:34. I think thats pretty good' He also timed a GTR who was only 3 secs quicker than me smile
I suspect we will go again this year maybe sept or oct time. Depending on whats available.
What tyres were you running? First year i had ns2rs front and 888 rear which gave a nice balance, although the day took 4mm off the ns2rs!. Second time and in videos above, i had 888s on front and Linea Zetas on rear for morning session (360 vid) and when the 888s were on last legs i swapped, that's one of the reason the tail was getting happy, they were overheating i think.

I got my moneys worth out of them!

I need to go back to Thruxton. Such an exciting track; shame about the low noise limit though irked

1:33.5 is mighty for a little Clio! I suspect I could go faster (lose the passenger, getting the final chcane correct etc) but 1:38 was the best I could do on the day. I had to short-shift at the complex (Campbell/Cobb) to prevent oil starvation cos the car was smoking a little.

My car was fitted with 595-RSR, with full interior, OEM suspension with standard geometry; only upgraded the pads and baffled sump.

This was the front-left after 426 road miles, a day at Castle Combe (144 miles) and then 182 miles at Thruxton. biggrin

Anyway back on topic, a good car is a good car is a good car, whatever the configuration. RS Clios/Meganes and DC2s are so good out of the box, don't discount them just because they're FWD!

A great thread, I have just acquired an R26 for tracking. Amazing how adjustable it looks in that video and impressive driving OP.

Only driven briefly on the road, can already tell it's going to be epic.

Going to get a fastchip module for 260bhp and some pads and fluid.....what pads do people run in here?

Thanks mate!

You'll love the R26, I initially started looking for one of these and think they're ideal for track stuff and a fair bit lighter than the 250.

With 260 it'll fly!

I'm just using the stock 250 cup pads as they're cheap and work ok. I swapped fluid but haven't felt it needs anything else. That said I haven't quite summoned the courage to really push them yet, it's making 1.1g through the corners on the stock suspension and ad08r's but not on the brakes, I think they'll do it, if I had the balls!

Just wanted to update this and share some more French love wink

Took a little trip to Brands this afternoon and got some dry lapping. The car was doing consistent high 56's which isn't bad esp with me behind the wheel!

It laps up the punishment smile

Those are pretty good times for a standard car.

I'm currently selling my track spec Clio and debating what to replace it with, the Meg 250 cup wasn't my first choice, but the more I look into it the more it's seem to be a good road / track / cost compromise.

I'd say it's a pretty fantastic time, esp when you consider it'll run fine on track in 32 degrees with air con yet is still comfortable and quiet, not bad on the road etc.. What other cars were you considering? What times have you done in the Clio?

Only went to brands once in the Clio a couple of years ago for a very busy evening , when it near std, and no times where taken. Id previously achieved high 55's in an Impreza, hence being impressed that a std car could get so close.

I'm looking to replace the Clio with a more fast road car, that can track, rather than an all out track car. The list of possible replacements, currently consists of
Boxster 987 3.2S,
Boxster 986 3.2S
BMW E46 M3
BMW 135i Coupe
Audi TT 3.2 2nd gen
Renault Megane RS250 Cup
Renault Clio RS200
Renault Clio 197/200 Meg engine conversion
VX220
