Really good thread this. How many miles have people covered on track without problem?
I've no idea what the odometer shows on the Caterham Supersport I bought last month. I've deduced that it was built for the 2009 Caterham Academy and has raced pretty much continuously since. The only 'history' it came with was a complete film of engine oil from when it's first engine voided its bowels and a thorough coating of what appears to be cement dust or gravel dust from its last outing with its previous owner (Estoril, I think). I'll find out whether it was a good purchase on Tuesday when I drive it for the first time...
Less than 6,700 miles and the head gasket appears to have blown, thus proving that mileage is irrelevant for racing cars hehe

Genuinely impressed!
What sort of spec are they both now?
I do wonder from time to time, what happened to them both !

Just remembered this thread of mine. Bought this beauty after reading about your cars. 113,000 miles, 280bhp, cooksport lowering springs, short shifter, CAI, decat, no advisories on the MoT, FSH for £3500. Despite what you may think its amazingly solid and the engine is super smooth.

Did my ARDS test in one of those. It felt pretty accomplished around Brands Indy.

My E92 M3 has 121,000 miles and has done 2:43 around Bedford GT and 53.5 Brand Indy. I replaced the big-end shells as a precaution, but other than that the engine is as it was when it left the factory.

I own an e36 3.0l M3 that is just for track use. Drives to and from the circuit. It is now on 147,000 miles. I must have done 40-50 track days ( usually about 150 miles each track day as a minimum). I have done nothing to the engine bar servicing. Yes things have broken on the car (Gearbox, engine mounts, bushes, power steering hose, etc) but the engine is still going. Wouldn't worry about the engine, it is all the other bits that wear out/break

Been using my Alfa 75 on track since I bought it in 2008 with a mere 98,000 on the clock. Since then it's done every one of our annual company track days being used like a Ring taxi, sundry other ones when I can fit them in and there are three Ring weekends in there too somewhere.

It's just about to go over 190,000 on the clock but that's about 7000 shy of the actual total as the speedo was changed just before I got it. Still on the original untouched engine and gearbox but I did put a clutch in it a couple of months back. I suspect that the one that came out was fitted in Milan.

Here it is on Combe taxi duty last year
