I went to Cadwell Park last week and thought I'd do a bit of a write up, it's more of a record for me than anything else but I thought I'd share it... I'm not sure if anyone else from Pistonheads was there?

I only ended up doing it because I had days leave to use up before the end of the month but I had some dodgy rear bearings to replace first... I ordered the parts on Monday, fitted them on Tuesday night and booked the track day on the Wednesday for the Thursday!

Cadwell Park is about 160 miles from me so I drove even further North to stay at my parents on the Wednesday night. It was when I arrived at about 10pm that I discovered that Cadwell Park don't allow suction mounts for filming. I considered screwing my mount directly to the dash but given it's a relatively small base, I needed something to spread the load and raise the camera above the wiper. The only thing we could find at the time was a block of wood and although it might not be pretty, after we cut it down it worked perfectly!

It's screwed into the dash and remarkably solid! I might just give it a quick coat of paint and leave it in there!

It was my first time at Cadwell so I started the morning on the AD08R's to get used to the track and there were quite a few red flags for various offs.

One of the red flags was because of another Black 182 letting go on track as well as an Evo and TT giving up, it must be quite a hard track on the cars! There were a few other Clio's there as well as a whole host of other machinery... The old Volvo looked great and was surprisingly quick!

I started picking up the pace and come lunch time, swapped over to the R888's. My dad started to feel a bit queezy so got our to take a few pics whilst I was out on track.

I got some video footage using Harry's Lap Timer and my unconventional mount you can see here

It was great fun but I had a few issues with the GPS sensor that caused a few issues in the last session when the battery was running low. I still had more than enough time to finish off my front brake pads and the R888's on the front...

I was running 24 front and 26 rear pressures and I think it must have been a bit high as they went up to 32 all round by the time I'd made it back to the paddock, I reduced them a bit to get to about 30psi all round. Given that it's a clockwise circuit, I need to run the passenger side a bit lower to get to even pressures.

I've changed the 2 front tyres for some R888R's and ordered some DS2500 pads for the front, hoping to get those sorted this weekend and get the next track day booked! It's surprisingly quick for a little old Clio and very addictive to throw around a track!
