Geoff
Is it possible to adjust that link, so the photos are viewable?

You didnt take a pic of the 550 after it... temporarily died and was being pushed back, did you?

Hi guys. Just saw the new thread.

Geof, I created an account on the link but it gives me a appologetic message that the pics have either been removed or the site is busy !?!

BTW here are some incar shots of a day I had in an airfiled a couple of months ago (Now you can all spot the mistakes )

Sorry about the link. Try this one http://community.webshots.com/user/N1GJT
I was trying to be too clever!

The Ferrari pictures are a bit cheeky but the Cate and the other pushers seem to be having fun!

There are now 2 threads (see December Ultimate Car Control).

Phil, enjoyed your video, some things don't change! Will try to get this weekend's spin and 360 on pistonheads TV if I get time this weekend! BRAKE IN A STRAIGHT LINE! By the way why were you checking you watch? Perhaps you should look at the road instead.

Bob, I enjoyed the blast in the Yellow Peril - thanks.

Thanks for the pics!

Last sunday, the spin was roll oversteer rather than braking. Irrespective its loads of fun One of my objectives of the day was to try and better understand my cars' dynamics and how to control high speed roll oversteer. I am happy to say that on two occasions by the end of the day I held a 70mph slide of rear wheels so I was quite chuffed. Clearly the first attempt did not go as planned !!!

On the airfiled vid I was hopelessly trying to get the car to drift but kept doing 360s. There was no instruction as there was about 30 of us (all ferraris) that hired the airfield for £30 each for some hooliganizim. The vid with me and the watch was that we were timing ourselves around a cone course.

Phil, your driving really was good. Far better than mine - was most impressed how deep you went into the corners and how hard/fast you turned, as we were taught. You consistently had a meter to spare each time, well done

The more you practise the better you get. I found catching a slide at 70 is quite different from controling the arse end when it goes wobbly at 30, but after you've done it enough times the only thing that you can do is improve. Another key factor for me is getting better at judging exactly where and when the back is going to go, to avoid steping over the limit. Who was in my car when I discovered the hard way that it wasnt possible to hold it through the fast corner with one hand whilst trying to change tracks on the cd player with the other? Sorreeee

Bob thanks for the compliments ... I'm really chuffed now

I also thoroughly enjoyed my ride in your car. It felt very solid and you were really able to lean on it in the fast corners. I felt it was very communicative and unlike what I had expected it would have been. You're driving was also extremely good and I still can't believe you've only been driving for such a short time (this must be a wind up!)

Unfortunately i missed your spectacular spin but good on you. I say if you don't spin on a day like this you're not pushing it and not learning as mutch as you can.

Thanks for the comps, and glad you enjoyed the ride

I was quite taken by the noble, which was so much better set up for the track than my cerbera, it was just... totally different in every way, and really opened my eyes to the meaning behind everyone's comments on the importance of chassis design and setup of other cars, handling etc. Its a good thing, being able to try out different cars, and has opened my mind quite a bit.

I remember speaking to people who previously owned cerberas, reading comments in profiles etc, and hearing the cerbera didnt have the greatest handling - it was good to be able to put that into perspective. Its a lot of unnecessary hard work imho. But loads of fun!

Years of driving on the roads make one a good (safe/experienced) driver. You only need several days on the track to be able to get 'near' the limits of a car, whatever its performance. Im guessing 90% of anyones track ability comes quickly/easily, the other 10% takes years of hard work and training. I think im best at spectacular spins

Looks like fun. Whereabouts was that airfield?
