for a corporate track day :P

apologies to those who have probably seen a post like this a thousand times but.....

where should I take 10 clients with a budget of 2.5K ? Mandatory requirements include driving a 911 and venue being South of Brum, and preferable requirement is track rather than airfield. am I being unrealistic?

petrol ted says no advertisers but i think we are safe to talk about advertisers compare experiences etc................ thanks in advance! Anyone in a line of work that includes WebSphere, Rational or J2EE could probably get an invite if they try hard enough.

Do you want exclusive use of the track and a loan 911 for people to play with? If you do, you won't get it for 2.5k.

Bruntingthorpe is about 3k from memory, which is an airfield but a good one with a circuit kind of thing going on. You'd have to source a 911, say from udrive cars, which would be about 900 GBP for the day. Then what do the other 8 do when the others are having fun?

If you want to take 10 people out for fun on a normal trackday, 250 GBP per head may work. I'd suggest you ask Bookatrack to provide a few cars and run at a non-exclusive Bookatrack event. Or try CPA trackdays and see if they can get them out in a few cars for a day at an event for that kind of budget.

Premium corporate entertainment is about 2.5k per head with people like trakshare(?), not 2.5k all in.

Hope that helps.

We can help within your budget but you would need to compromise on 911s and proper tracks (i.e. accept that an airfield is where your budget is putting you). Don't let this put you off though, airfields are normally more appropriate for this sort of thing (lots of run-off areas etc).

Contact us on info@track-club.com or max.stringer@track-club.com

As the Domster points out you will be looking at a minimum of £900 per day just for a single loan 911.

thanks for your comments, not overly optimistic however! I was going by this - www.driversdreamdays.co.uk/product.asp?id=10

is this not what it says on the tin? anyone done it? it sounds great value on the face of it.

PS I'm not looking for exclusivity...... just every one of the guests getting a blast in something.

Ah - well the issue is what you actually want for your clients:

The link you've posted is a typical experience day which normally means little on-track time & restricted use of the cars potential. They are good if you want to sample a large number of cars but ultimately they may prove to be a little unsatisfying.

The sort of thing I (and expect Domster) was referring to is a proper track day. This means quality time in cars (with instructors) and an expectation that you will actually use the car's potential.

The latter option is normally fewer cars, less exotic cars but much more of a true track experience.

Closest you will get to what you require is a Top Cat day

No Porker a 440bhp V8 Sagaris
Lots of track time with no restrictions
Cost you about 6K for 10 people
They run at Silverstone and Donington

Yup, 6k is closer to this happening than 2.5k sadly.

Max (stringer) may be able to put a good day together. Otherwise speak to Paul at CPA trackdays www.cpatrackdays.co.uk/ and see what he can sort for your budget. He may be able to help and had a 911 GT3 on his books last time I went.

If they fall through, red letter days it is!

(They're not bad but track time is minimal; girlf went on one last week; she drove an F355 F1 around Goodwood for 3 laps, took about an hour inc tea, briefing etc. She enjoyed it but not a massive amount of time on track. For 250 a head you'd get a few more laps, I think. But still only a half day max, not a big corporate blow out.)

Why does it need to be a 911? Our Caterham Superlights would be a much better bet and you could have quite a bit of track time each for £250/head - much more than you'd get from an 'experience-day' service.

Mail me if you want a formal quote or to discuss dates.

Yeah, two or three sharing Jonny's superlights would work a treat as well. And each guest would probably get more track time than with CPA, plus a chance to learn the cars better.

Hmmm... valuable advice so thanks for very much. My budget pretty much amounts to a choice of either Porker vs Ferrari day (4 laps in each), OR, a track day using Caterhams/Elises with proper instructors etc. I must be honest the latter seems most sensible but a shame that the client invitation wont be claiming use of any exotica

such is life!

CPA is my next step....... a GT3 track day sounds good but might mean a lot of people standing around watching

ive been a guest on most of the 'experience days', most of them pretty forgetable. in my experience the more exotic the car the less enjoyable the day, standing around all day for a couple of laps in a supercar they wont let you push is no fun. jp days at bedford are leagues ahead as real entertainment and an element of competition and training but well over your budget at 800ish.

if i was organising one i wouldnt hesitate to book an airfield (maybe even a track) day with bookatrack or easytrack and hire their caterhams which would work out about your budget i recon. the invite might not have porsche on it but they'll leave with a massive grin (and theyll have overtaken plenty of porsches)

Why not dump 7 of the 10 guests and take the remainder to the Palmer day at Bedford Autodrome?
Porsche 911, Caterhams, Jag Cosworth etc

Its an idea, but dumping the 7 may not be so good for future business!!!
