Academy day aims to boost driving skills

Motorsport Events is holding a Driving Academy Day in May.

With other such events possible later in the year, the club said that the day will be an opportunity to learn new driving skills in a controlled airfield environment with no Armco barriers to hit.

You will receive expert tuition from the professional instructors led by Ed Moore. Topics covered will include:

  • Seat position and steering control
  • Braking/accelerating/car balance
  • Understeer/oversteer
  • Awareness
  • Emergency avoidance and braking
  • Track day driving etiquette
  • Track driving session

What: Driving Academy Day

When: Saturday 13 May

Where: Heyford Park near Bicester, Oxfordshire (nr M40 J10).

I presume this equates to a subset of what you get on one of the First Lotus thingies?

More of a track day introduction package IMO. Andy Walsh's is more about car control, this is more of an all round event, culminating in a 'standard' track session - good for newbies and people who've not thought about going on track before (also good as a refresher for those who have).
I've introduced a number of people to trackdays via this event.
I also used it last year to get my other half used to the S2000 and what it could (and couldn't) do on the limit before I put her on the insurance.
