Novice track day at Bedford Autodrome

Loads of run-off makes it safe for first-timers

Bedford Autodrome
Bedford Autodrome
MotorSport Vision (MSV) has organised yet another track day for novices.

When: Monday 13 March 2006

Where: Bedford Autodrome, South Circuit

Format: Open pit lane

Price: £99

Bedford Autodrome is a very safe circuit thanks to its enormous run-off areas, making venue a good spot for first timers to make a circuit debut and discover the limits.

The South Circuit is a 2.7-mile combination of challenging corners connected by a one-kilometre straight. Open pit lane means participants get the flexibility to go on and off track at will and, with a maximum of 20 cars on circuit at any one time, there will be plenty of space.

MSV's professional instructors will be on hand throughout the day to give advice on vehicle preparation and dynamics as well as a minibus tour around the track before high-speed sessions start so that the key elements of the layout can be pointed out.

Does anyone know if there is a noise limit for this day and if so what it is?

Have you looked at the MotorVision website?
All the noise-limit details are in a great big pop-up window....

Sounds like the perfect track for me . . . Almost slided of the road again today . . . are those Jap boxes plain dangerous, do I drive to fast or can't I drive properly? Time for some lessons at a track.

Noise limit is 101 db static and 87db drive by.

The web info states that the South Circuit is 1.3 miles, not 2.7 as stated above. So what am I missing??

87db on drive by! Apparently mine is 117db on drive by! Maybe won't book that then! Looks like the new motor's destined not to get on track in this country. Is there no track day venues with no noise limits?

Looks the right way round to me, Static is 1.5 metres, Drive by is track side, about ten times that.

Where does your exhaust exit, try aiming it downward, or towards the infield!

Where would I go about getting my car tested for noise? I've got a reasonably loud Piper SS exhaust but I've got no idea how many dBs it kicks out. I'd hate to be sent home because of it!

Looking at the Bedford Autodrome website it looks like it is the South-East & North loops totalling 2.7 miles.

I have just booked it - my first track day with my own car !

Changed my Tamora's Super Sports exhaust back to the standard one and hopefully about to book.

For anyone else who's going it's now in the PH calendar:-
