oooooooh, that is me being thick, 'near side front', got it now
that is a good point, but means bringing the jack, can I be bothered?.....

I have booked up now, so will be there 9am ish saturday morning, see you there. Pauline said there were 20 cars or so, so should be nice and quiet on track, at 4 sessions per hour I make that 5 cars over a 1 mile circuit, or 1 about every 400 metres.
interesting there is no drivers breifing though, does that mean everybody overtakes on corners/does what they want etc??

Last time overtaking was allowed either side, on corners, everywhere really as long as you are not dangerous.
This was because the majority were track cars so usual trackday rules weren't appropriate.
This makes for a lot better track day though, as long as no-one is stupid.
I thought signing was 8 and the track opens at 9?
Anyway i'll be there early doors.
If you need a jack or anything I'll have everything needed as got a spare car coming along with tools etc.
I'll be in a white pulsar.
See ya then, Ben

cool, cheers Ben, will see you there, im in a black westy with roll cage, come and say hello if I dont first
you are right, sign in 8, track open at 9, but there is no breifing so getting there any earlier than 8:45 is not necessary I don't think

*Practising*????? Surely that isn't in the spririt of things?

Besides, the only way you're going to be quicker than Jes is to have your brain removed.

I prefer a bottle in front of me rather than a frontal labotamy!

Hugh, looks like you found out about my training regime! Must be more covert in future!

yep, I had a great day, nice technical track, and a good mix of different cars to be overtaken by I will be well up for the next time. I actually left after session 4 because I was using 20 litres of fuel every session so think I must be loosing some. Shame about your gearbox, but I am sure you will have it fixed for next time.
How much power are you running then Jay? pretty quick on the straights I noticed.

good to meet you too John, you seemed to be enjoying the dry sessions a little more than the earlier wet ones.

Running about 280 bhp @ the fly, so not a great deal. But you can fly by people if you get Chessons drift right, but i've destroyed my front tyres by lunch, the n/s/r was losing chunks off it and in places had gone down to the cords!

The right hander after the start and finish straight.
After it turns in tight then just drifts round to the right.
If you get trhe power on just as it dips and get the apex where it tightens up you can keep the power down all the way round.
As you come out of the dip it'll throw you to the outside a little and then just let the power drag you too the outside of the track.
Excellent feeling of satisfaction getting it right but you can hear/feel that your tyres are fighting hard all the way round.

Right, I'm with you know, yes, that is the best corner in my opinion, very technical. Slightly different sensation in my car with it being RWD (I think yours is 4WD?), I end up on the outer edges of the track if I get it right but there is quite a lot of drama in the cockpit, constantly fighting small bumps/undulations, making small (sometimes large) corrections to stop the rear overtaking the right, and then I have to change up to 4th half way round which is a bit hairy as there is still quite a lot going on at the wheel. I did think about dropping my pressures at the rear, as I think the car is probably a bit too pointy, but I was enjoying it so much I didn’t see the point. Also, I seem to get a lot of fuel starvation round that corner, need to investigate.

I will definitely be back, a really fun circuit, and there is still lot to learn there for me. What times were you running round there Jay, any idea?

Yeah mines 4wd but still got the same scenario with the corner dragging me to the trackside, the bumps twitchin the wheel, and I was changing up into 4th mid way round too.
Love the sensation of planting the power in the dip of the corner and as I hit the brow, as the corner opens up, the car steps across the track where its kind of leaping of the track. Funny.
I was running consistant 49's and 50's with best timed lap of 48.2.
How bout you?

Martin,

Yep, had a great day in the dry, damp and 370 bhp don't go hand in hand! I have shredded the front near side tyre and obviously need some more camber for the sprint, also must remember not to go on the grass backwards, no damage done! Had to call it a day at lunch before further tyre investment was required!

Just seen a picture of the Imp that was there in >MotorSport as one of the old mod racers that were around in the 70s racing Baby/Big Bertha no wonder it was so quick!!!

See you at the next one,

John

Jay, no idea what times I was running, I was kinda asking you to try and work out my own times, I think as I got to learn the track in the 3rd or 4th (last) session I was maybe 1 or 2 seconds per lap behind you but not really sure, it may have been more, it may have been less.
