Insurance for 'Ring

my insurance is up at Sunninghill, and it seems they no longer cover the ring in their trackday section. who is everyone else using?
is there someone covering Modded cars that give track cover inclusive AND includes the Ring still, as sunninghill used to?

Unless your policy mentions the Nordschliefe (assuming it is a UK policy, it is unlikey to exclude it) then European cover will cover the tourist days. We won't like paying for the armco (and your car) but they will have to in the end. If it is a training day (ie closed session) you might be on dodgy ground but it is still German Autobahn.
Insurers? Not sure......

Not any more he doesn't, he's dropped the list due to the sheer number of insCo's doing it.
Excluding "de-restricted toll roads" is interesting. If the Germans ever build a toll Autobahn your Insco would effectively be restricting your freedom to travel within the EU....could be a good case for a smart lawyer.

For the last year there has been an ANPR-type system that automatically clocks lorries. The owner gets charged for distance travelled.

But as no-one here is planning to take an Artic around the ring i don't really think that's relevant

Are you refering to Breidscheid, to allow people to exit/enter the circuit? What's the 'limit' there out of interest? 50kph?

The limit is 50kph. You also have a limit at DH - 130kph...

Yep, the limit sign at DH is a bit after the gantry...
My trusty stallion ( VW Golf mk2 GTI 16v) should fare relatively well in the wet
with all that power

Yes, it looks like it will be wet-ish over the weekend. I'm there Thursday evening and Friday, but we are only staying for Sat morning, so should hopefully avoid the worst of Sat/Sun, which I expect to be completely mad there (although rain should diminish numbers).

The new system, which allowes one to do an almost continuous lap without coming off into the car park should help... But I ain't holding my breath. The weekend of 1st April was very quiet and empty with the rain, thus the Porker stays in the garage and the VW mk2 comes out to play yet again...
have they re-organised the car park/track exit/track entry/queing zone then?!
I think they need two lanes, one going st through to the barriers, with no additional entry from the car park, and another going into the back of one of the car parks or something like that, as the queue to get from the main road/roundabout inevitably somehow leads to long queues right down DH on busy days!

Snap! Our cars have similar power to weight ratio (but your's has a *touch* more torque
), so I think the theme may be "softly softly, catchee monkey!" I think Sat is due to be dry, if a tad cold, though. Cue loads of accidents from a frustrated friday

That's what they have at present - you can either drive straight through a temporary barrier set up on DH or you can come off into the car park. Should help a bit with congestion, fingers crossed.

You need to check each insurers policy book/website and if it doesnt mention de-restricted toll roads you should be covered,but might have to take it to court to get your money.
The more people question it the more insurers will come wise to it and exclude it from thier policies.
This is only something ive heard from a underwriter friend of mine.
He has checked and cannot find anybody who will genuinly coer the Ring
