i got about 15 laps in and 6 pax laps over Friday-Monday. Had to leave ages between laps for the brakes to cool. Saw some good driving and some bad driving. Notably a Pug 306 that wouldn't leave the line. But the 2 slow VXT was very curteous, best bit of allowing me to pass all weekend.

Funniest moment, lapping quicker than the ring taxi. It left the pits about 5 cars ahead of me, coming around Galgenkopf, it's sheepishly driving off the grass at the inside back onto the track and I pass it. Shame it wasn't Sabine driving though. This was Saturday I think between the 500 track closures.

As for deaths, I can't confirm or deny anything, but the dent in the arnco that porsche made near kesselchen was HUGE!

The driver was Ok - looked a bit sheepish and shaken sitting on the Ambulance stretcher... The RUF-ed GT2 also made a big dent at QH/FP I think the worst casualty of the weekend was a biker with a broken arm/sholder... Painful, I know, but better than you know what...

@chilled, was that the fench reg red 306?
i had to cut his nose off to get by, i was quicker than him but he wouldnt get out of the way.
I know what you mean about the brakes boiling, its generally a couple of laps then let the tyres/brakes cool down and then out again.
In the wet on sunday and monday i was doin 4 laps on the trot, mainly because there were no accidents closing the track

Actually it was an english plated pug. ironically I gave his mate a pax lap but didn't realise they knew each other. We was well impressed though.

Best fun was following a dutch Elise. Very evenly matched.

Ahhh - was that you that came up to me and said hi?

I did move over for traffic coming up fast from behind as soon as I could. I didn't have a clue where the track went half the time so was the "2 SLO" one this weekend.

Didn't know about the bans for filming, but did know it wasn't "allowed". Saw other people there with cameras though....

Yep, that was me. There's always stuff faster than you, and it's dangerous I think to frustrate the driver behind and not let him past. It's not a race, it's just bloody good fun!

it's also dangerous if you're the driver of a blue, decalled scooby, reg M1 *** to virtually try and force people off the circuit. All I could see in my mirrors when braking for the long right hander before the climb to the karussel was blue paintwork and loads of tyre smoke. Totally arrogant attitude. If someone drives like that near me again, I will have no hesitation in having 'words'. It's not necessary on a TF day to drive like an arse. Hate to think of his attitude towards bikes. Idiot. Why do those type of drivers rely on their mid range torque generated by the turbo and 4wd to aid them so heavily round the circuit?

If anyone frequents the playground that is scoobynet, please feel free to pass on my comments.

Rant over.

because they can?

That's like asking why Caterham drivers rely on their ability to carry enormous speed through the corners.

Or am I missing something here?

Fergus- he may have just out braked himself or somat obviously a normal car doesnt brake as late as a 7, or assuming he was that close after the big climb was he not quite a bit faster than that rollerskate of yours tho & gagging to be let past?

Hmm- decal'd up scooby- Gary (Guttman) ?

Not that I'd blame you of course 99% of scumbaru driver are can't drive chavs anyway so its good to annoy them... (awaits for francisb's abuse)

Anyway did I tell you the scooby & bike story from last yr?

Scooby pulls in carpark (dutch reg I seem to recall) bike pulls up behind, rider gets off fully kitted up, opens scooby door & just lamps the driver one(with carbon gloves on that would smart a bit 'eh!) gets back on bike & rides off. Saves the grief of an argument I guess!

Or cos they can't drive anything that requires any finesse whatsoever?

Perhaps. But, regardless, I did think it a strange question to ask why a driver relies on the strengths of the particular car they are driving.

Antifreeze will kill a biker just as quickly as oil.

There's a very interesting write up of this weekend's ring action (ooh err!) on Ben Lovejoy's site. Some more about the E30 towards the end. www.nurburgring.org.uk/trip_reports/trip46/index.html

I found a group of Brit bikers who managed to hold up a queue of traffic for a whole lap! - One of them saw me, indicated, moved over and then nailed it and expected me to come past on the straight in a standard Elise. As soon as we got to a bend he virtully climbed off and pushed the bike round.

The irony was his plate - R1 2 SLO (he was on a GSXR) A push bike would have been quicker under braking and around the bends - let alone an R1. I would be amazed if they made it back to the UK without incident, because they were some very aggressive car drivers that end up just forcing their way past in the bends.

Hello! I met Andy 'Sixspeed' over the weekend so I thought I use it as a reason to branch out from my usual lair of 306gti6.com and meet some more car nuts and 'ringers I had a great time and am looking forward to my next visit- like Andy I spent most of the time trying to learn where the course was going and getting out of the way of people who already knew what they were doing!

A friend of mine wrote off his saxo which put a damper on things, but apart from that the weekend was great, and best of all my 103k miles 306 ( I'm hoping it wasn't the one getting in the way, appologies if it was!!) made it there and back in one rather tasty looking -if I do say so myself!- lump of metal

The atmosphere in the bars and restaurants was brilliant, and I'm looking forward to the social side next time as much as the track action

its real petrol head heaven is it!
Was that your blue 306 on track tyres?
But i did experirnce the bikes being very aggressive, but the thing is they will wipe most cars in a straight line, but on the =curves cars will win, only problem is when a bike ends up in your blind spot mid corner....happened to em more than once and i nearly wiped a few out....thanksfully didnt.
but its a great place, and the museum in the Dorint's car park is cool!

I had huge expectations of the 'ring, and it still blew all of them into the weeds!

My 306 was dark blue ('sigma' to pug geeks) with white Enkei alloys, and is the earlier model with squarer headlights and wings. My mate Steve has a lighter ('Nile') blue phase 2 on Weller steel rims. He got down to a 9:57, myself a 9:09; but both on proper road tyres rather than semi slicks as the only member of our group on semi slicks was the Saxo that crashed on Sunday

*EDIT*
sorry davyboy, nah that's no me or any of the guys from 306gti6.com

If anyone could let me know how to attach pics that aren't stored online I'd be realy grateful- I seem to have missed the info.
anyway, here's a pic on flickr www.flickr.com/photos/sixspeed/130723106/in/set-72057594111188535/

I saw the two of those cars, we ate in somje place in Adenau and they were parked up there.
The Weller rims look very well on it.
Its a shame when one of the lads kills his car, a friend of mine did it with his rental 5 sieres and it gave him a bit of a start plus ruined friday for all of us.
thats the problem with the ring, when you push too hard it bites back, and you only have about 6-8feet of grass to stop you most of the way round
