I was there in yellow GT3 with black wheels.

Great day, and lucky with the weather too.

I called in for a few hours to see a few PHers. Saw Derestrictor (993turbo), Jeremyc (Caterham), FrancisB (964RS), GregE240 and domster.

Saw what I now know to be Glens car. Wheels look thumbup

Saw HenryF's car. What happened to the dynorod colour scheme?

Couldn't believe it when I saw a ferrari LM250 on track (and another one in the garage!).

A friend of mine was chatting to the owner

Those Fezzas are worth £2-3m each, and the front engined one was £4m !!!!!!!!

£10m worth of cars, can you imagine asking for a quote for track day insurance !!!!!

I saw a 250LM on a video a few years ago and thought it sounded good. Sounds even better in real life. Top marks to whoever brought them along today. Made the 250 mile round trip for a natter with a few PHers very worthwhile.

Prior to today the only time I'd ever seen a 250LM was at the Shlumpf collection back in April. I can't even remember seeing one at Galleria Ferrari last September.

Wierd things, track days.

Never really appreciate them until I start thinking about events the next day.

Was honoured to be tutored by Stuart Turvey, current Ascari driver although it was borderline embarassing to be bumbling through with various exotica screaming past whilst yours truly suddenly drove like a pre-pass 17 year old.

I don't think I'll be doing many more track days in the beetle, however, which isn't an excuse (well it is a bit, I'm a truly sh1t driver), these cars are just too heavy and to make them trackable renders them hopeless on road, where they dominate.

Also, turbocharging is one crap way of powering on, I thought the lag was minimal, I was wrong - it's epic!

Out there, the 964RS, 996GT3s, Exiges - hell, even f@cking Mk1 Elises - can do things the blobbery understeers just weren't born to attempt.

Stuart took the helm and transformed things but it was clear he wasn't remotely interested, a gloriously driven 1960s Ferrari 330 really kept even him at bay for long spells which was something to behold so it all rather seperates the men from the boys, by which measure I feel even puberty lies some way off.

Jeremy took me for a great drive in his Caterham and proved what a brilliant car that is and what an incredible driver he is - thanks mate, that was truly inspirational. thumbup

Dom's old and Francis's latest track toy, the old 964RS 'Red Baron' confirmed emphatically it's credentials - Francis came past me at one point like I was in reverse but a drive out with Stuart had me dumbstruck - in the hands of a real racer, the balance seemed otherworldy, I could have been out with Tiff Needel or something, the car drifting and flashing past other combatants with seeming ease.

Only 300bhp, too. Makes you, or rather me, think.

But the real stars, for my money, were the Radicals.

I don't know why people bother with even the track Porsches, surely these ground effect hyper specials deliver the thrills track afficiandos seek? They make everything else seem ponderous, they are utterly, utterly stunning.

Big thanks to Andy Fearns for making it happen, cheers boss! beer

DeR, stick at it......you have now seen how steep the learning curve is to become a decent driver on track!
You will improve your technique with every subsequent trackday, this is part of the fun, plus the Beetle is a fine car to track at venues such as Silverstone and Bedford GT.

yeah he'll be *quite* quick then... in a "holy crap i'm pathetic" kind of way... don't worry i feel like that every time.

good to meet you and Greg

hope its the start of a debilitating track addiction like the rest of us!

BTW i'll wager Der has a 340bhp 964RS Cup car by next spring

wavey Great day. thumbup Nice to catch up with a few of the folks there, but seemed to spend most of the day on track so didn't manage to speak to some of the other PHers there (I noticed the Silver Mk1 GT3 had a PH sticker on). driving

I think I followed you around for one of the sessions Greg - fantastic loooking car.

Of course Derestictor does have the perfect normally aspirated track day weapon sitting in t'stables at t'Northern Mansion: all we've got to do is get him out on track in it. rolleyes

Hi Glenn,
Was it your Yellow GT3 that come off near Copse corner ?
The Fezzas were parked next my my Exige - greatest respect for the owner who shafted the shite out of his Ginetta as well. Good driver and not afraid to push those expensive bits of metal around the track. The noise from them was something else..teh S Type Jag V8 came close to the largest engine roar, but the quality of those Fezzas was secodn to none.

its great to see goldtrack have given the owners enough confidence to bring them to track... they seem to have picked up the mega-car buisiness from RMA... i hope their prices don't follow to match ! i did wonder why they were soooooo particular about track etiquette in the breifing
