Having been bitten by the bug last weekend, a few friends and I are thinking about making a return trip later this year. October 1st-3rd would give us 2.5 days on track (with the VLN to watch on September 30th if we're there a bit earlier). Otherwise we're looking at November for full weekends.

What's it normally like this late in the year? Are we going to be guaranteed torrential rain or even snow? Or does it not normally get really bad until later?

There's not normally snow until mid Dec and then through Jan/Feb and into Mar - sometimes Apr too.
October is often good but clearly risk of rain, more so in November - still - it keeps (most of the sensible) bikers away!

Yep, good weather is often to be had this time of year.
Beware of laps early in the day though because shaded areas will be cold and damp until well into the morning.

I will be there on those dates with some of this lot www.justgofaster.com

I owe serious thanks to all that convinced me that an October trip to the 'Ring was a good idea. Got back yesterday having spent an awesome three days tearing around. If anyone was held up by a green MX5 with the roof down slip sliding all over the place I apologise!

Looked like you were having fun. You certainly weren't hanging about when you passed me through Kallenhard.

I know the circuit well - which is a huge advantage. I wonder what the Black UK registed GT3 thought when I passed them in the 'rover'?

May have some photos of you guys as I was there filming on a Driving Adventures trip Monday and Tuesday.

If you can let me know more about what cars you had, I'll have a look to see if I captured you.

While Graham was happy snapping I was filming from various parts of the circuit and caught LOTS of cars in loony mode - was that you? We'll put some coverage on the Driving Adventures site (see link above) in the not too distant future. If you want to see the footage when it's released feel free to register on the site as an email will go out to let everyone on the database know it's up.

Any chance you caught my grey Volvo S60 pottering around on Monday?

Well, only 18 of them were in the Mazda. But it was fine. The only problem I had all weekend was a bit of overheating coming off after my first lap when in traffic which I traced to a broken rad fan thermoswitch so I just left the aircon switched on all weekend as this switches both rad fans on.
