G'day guys,

I am going to be visiting the UK from the land down under to see family and friends next year and I want to do a driving experience type thingo.

I reckon this one www.thruxtonracing.co.uk/exige.html looks to be pretty good value and there is one at Silverstone to. What do you guys think to it? It seems to give a decent amount of seat time for the price. Any other recomendations for something of a similar value?

Get thee to Goodwood, one way or the other, even if its via Avis.

you would need to check how much track time you get. Another alternative would be a a track day with a co that rents out tracks cars. Look at Bookatrack and one of their caterhams. Prob cost more, but I bet you get much more track time. Good guys at BaT.

ive done quite a few, i'd not do any again, thruxton supercars was by far the worst, i doubt exiges would be any better.

the only one worth doing which is outstanding is jonathon palmer day at bedford.

personally i'd book a trackday and hire a caterham for ten times the in-car time

How about emptying your wallet and burning the contents, that's likely to give you the most realistic UK driving experience.

I've done that one and thought it was excellent. It's definately a much better option than Silverstone where they only normally let you run round the tiny Stowe circuit or if you're lucky the South Circuit.

It certainly looks better than the supercar type events that last you all of 10 minutes and for the price of it I dont think I will have any luck trying to hire a seven for the day.

What do you want to get out of the experience? Is it going on a track, learning to drive better or just speed around in a supercar? Do you have any track experience already?

I have some track experience and I am just about to fill out the forms to enter my state sprint championship in a MK1 Toyota MR2 Supercharged.
There is pretty much no such thing as driving experiences here so not only do I get to fang a car I'm not going to get to own for some time but hopefully with the instructor alongside for 14laps I will be able to pick up a few new techniques. There arent any circuits as big or exciting to drive here either....unless I drive for 3 days solid across the desert

You need to be careful with 'experiences' here because of lot of them end up being about 5 laps when you're not allowed to change out of 3rd gear! A track day (if you can get a car or someone to lend you one for the day) is much more fun and money better spent IMHO.
