2:08's is going some.. well done .. young Porschemeister Sean Edwards tells me a stock RS is good for a 2:06-2:07 .. a GT3 a 2:08.. suspension and geo set up cars can get close to 2:03-2:04's and he has done a 2:00 flat in the Oakley design GT3 with all the aero, Intrax + geo + stickies on it..

A cup car will get down to 1:48's ..biggrin..

I have seen a CSL go round in a 2:21 a long time ago on slicks.. but not sure what the limit of the car is really..

Wait till i get my proper front tyres.. i will be chomping on your Zorst.. (not..!)

Lovely RS by the way..!

LOL,

Don't believe ALL the horse st that comes out of Shedwards gob biggrin

He only did a 1:59 in my 997 Cup Car the other week, although with a bit of traffic and me
in the passenger seat and average rubber.

He could probably get a 2:07 out of a stock RS, as he's about as good as it gets for pedalling a 911, however, i'm struggling to believe that 2:00 flat time in the Oakley car.....7 seconds over standard is more than a lifetime...

G.
for reference the little r300 was doing 2.11's but that was the first time on the (gp) circuit. I maybe had one or two clean laps judging by the video.
pw if i can be serious for a second , i have always been fascinated by caterhams and unfortunately dont know much about them but how fast do you think you could get in yours ( if already you can hit 2.11) ? how much power do you have ? i have been on track against a friend in a 500 thingy ( in a 997 rs not the 993 rsr circa 2.08 ) and was annihilated . what tyres do you run ?
thanks for the kind words by the way .

Hi,

Firstly its a new R300 Duratec race car. 2.0L ford untuned, 175bhp. We have to run Avon CR500's wet and dry, although mid season we are getting a new avon which is supposed to be worth a second a lap. Presume more over the GP layout.

TBH it was the first time on GP layout and I certainly wasn't getting becketts complex perfect, nor stow. We are racing there later on in the year and I suspect that will come down a few seconds. 2.08's? Not sure if the R400's/C400's have raced there, but normally add a couple of seconds onto their lap time. Maybe 3-4 over such a long lap.

It was only doing 125mph down the straights....lol!

I've tracked by old BMW m3 coupe E36, and then my 911 2S and both very capable cars, but once I'd driven a light weight car the speed through the corners, plus the economics of running it for track use make it very appealing. If I wasn't racing I would probably have an r400, or a new 500 (anything that doesn't require frequent engine work)

Hope that helps. They are great little cars. So much fun.

R500's are mega quick everywhere !!!

Andy's R500 off PGT was very hard to overtake when i was in my Cup car at Silverstone the other week, certainly made me work for it.
AND he was only on normal raod tyres, anything sticky on it, and it would just fly !!!

Sound mega too !!!
