Was there yesterday for my first visit to spa and managed a 2.49 in my e92 m3 on dunlop tyres. The track is absolutely amazing which was a nice surprise as so many people kept saying its nowhere near as good as the ring. Will definately go back next year.
Well that does surprise me as you couldn't be on a better circuit than Spa. The ring is full of tts. Not a nice place to be on the best of days.

I was there yesterday and the day before and managed a 2:56.9 lap in my 160bhp S1 Elise on R888's, most laps were around 3:01 - 3:08. Highest recorded speed was 126.2mph which I am chuffed with as I struggled to get over 120mph on the first day.

I would have to agree as the monday at the ring was even worse than a tourist day in my opinion as i did not even get one clean lap in.Spa was in contrast so much better in terms of driving standards and traffic and the place was just a fantastic place to be.

Is eau rouge "Harry Flatters" on R888s? We were taking a slight lift in the mx5 but it was on ditch finders.

Yes although I exceeded the track limits! I found it quicker to lift off the throttle an incy bit then give it full beans. Down Kemmel the Elise is barely picks up speed, possibly 5-10mph, put the kettle on and had a cuppa most sessions :lol

Anyone got any in-car footage of these times from yesterday? Would love to try and work out where I'm losing time...

Sorry mine are on my timer that is left in the car out of my vision and viewed later in the day, no video as I'm a numptie with anything slightly technical.

Depends on the car but for me the two areas I gained on most was carrying more speed through Eau rouge and mostly Pouhon which I was using 5th on the exit on my quicker laps. (Close Ratio Box in S1 Elise)

Really good time that, I presume you ment Dunlop road tyres (or slicks?)

I was there as well Tuesday and Wednesday, lovely weather. Did you get data?

Some truly amazing times in this thread. We can only manage around 2:45 in a Juno (footage here: http://juansolo.demon.co.uk/motas/juno14.html ) on used, but not shagged slicks. On fresh slicks with a bit more commitment it's possible to go quite a bit quicker as Andrew D suggests earlier on. Here he is doing a 2:34 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hvlHqf6sbo

The red, white and blue Radical No 52 was doing 2m 36s laps with a passenger and late on Wednesday Matt Bell did a 2m 1s lap by himself in the Yellow Renault Megane 265 Trophy. Last year he did a 2m 46s lap in a standard 2009 Nissan GTR

Haha. I found the same. Suspect you could take it flat but you'd just drift wide and lose speed.

Driven Spa twice, been to the F1 and still can't believe quite how steep Eau Rouge is. TV pictures really don't do it justice.

Re: barely picking up speed, I remember having to change down gear on the straights between Bergwerk and Carousel at the Nurburgring in my standard mx5 when we first went biggrin

No dunlop direzza dz03g similar to cups but a little better about a second a lap around hockenheim short circuit according to tom schirmer in germany.Did some laps oh harrys lap timer until memory on phone was full as have a lot of ring laps on the best on harrys was a 2.51 with the tom tom gps mount and then did a fairfew laps towards the end of the day with a friend manually timing and did a few late 49s with a passenger but dont know what difference that would make around there? The car has nitron race dampers and a big brake kit and profi spg seats.

Stick up the 2m51 on Harry's as a YT video as I'm keen to see where the e92 loses time to the CSL!

I went out with Matt in the Radical - quite an experience! He carried a LOT of speed through the bends and could overtake almost at will. Really impressive on slicks, took Eau Rouge flat at 125 and climbed to about 135 before braking for the chicane at Les Combes. Also showed me a much quicker line through Blanchimont.I had higher straight-line speed in my GT-R but there's no getting away from its bulk in the corners wink Many thanks to Matt, Trevor and the team for the opportunity smile
